What Are WoW Classic Anniversary Servers?
World of Warcraft's 20th Anniversary servers launched in November 2024 as fresh-start Classic realms with modern quality-of-life improvements. Unlike permanent Classic Era servers, these Anniversary realms are progression servers - they moved through all six vanilla phases and transitioned into The Burning Crusade Classic in January 2026.
These servers attracted the largest Classic WoW population since the original 2019 launch, with packed realms like Nightslayer, Spineshatter, Dreamscythe, and Firemaw. The combination of a fresh economy, active communities, and guaranteed expansion progression made Anniversary the definitive way to experience Classic WoW in 2025-2026.
Why Buy a Classic Anniversary Account?
Anniversary server accounts carry real value because of the time invested. Characters that progressed through all vanilla phases have completed attunements, earned reputation, accumulated gold, and built profession skills that take months to replicate.

Anniversary vs Classic Era What's the Difference?
Classic Era servers are permanent vanilla-only realms frozen at the 1.13 patch. Your character stays at level 60 forever with no expansion progression.
Anniversary servers are the opposite they progress through expansions on a set schedule. All Anniversary realms transitioned to Burning Crusade Classic on January 13, 2026, with no option to stay in vanilla. Characters on these servers are now in TBC and will likely continue into Wrath of the Lich King and beyond, though Blizzard hasn't confirmed the full roadmap yet.
This means Anniversary accounts have a future - your investment grows as the servers progress. Classic Era accounts are static and appeal to a different type of player who specifically wants the vanilla-only experience.
What's on Anniversary Servers Right Now
As of February 2026, Anniversary servers are running TBC Classic Phase 1. All characters from the vanilla phase carried over with their gear, gold, professions, and achievements. Blood Elf and Draenei races are available. The level cap is 70. Outland is fully open with all Phase 1 content including Hellfire Peninsula through Netherstorm.
Raids open February 19: Karazhan (10-man), Gruul's Lair (25-man), and Magtheridon's Lair (25-man). Arena Season 1 started February 17 with rated 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 brackets. Heroic dungeons are available for geared level 70 characters with the appropriate reputation keys.
