The best AION 2 class right now depends on what you play: Chanter is the most wanted pick for group PvE, Assassin and Gladiator lead damage, and Ranger tops high end arena data from Korea. All eight global classes are viable, but Chanter, Gladiator and Assassin give the safest return on your time.
A note on method. The global service is five days old, so no reliable global data exists yet. This tier list is built from 11 months of Korean service results: an Inven community PvE tier post from 30 June 2026, an arena ranking analysis from January 2026 and a class statistics post from March 2026, combined with NC's own role descriptions.
Balance on global can differ, and we will update this page as global data appears.

Two naming notes. Korean based English guides often call the Spiritmaster "Elementalist", and NC's 2025 English press release called the Ranger "Marksman". The global client uses Spiritmaster and Ranger.
AION 2 tier list: group PvE
This is where most players spend their week: Expeditions, Transcendence, Nightmare and raids. The Inven PvE tier post from June 2026 ranks classes like this:

Take the Cleric ranking with care. A C rating in a Korean endgame meta still means a Cleric is welcome in many groups, especially while the global population is levelling.
AION 2 tier list: PvP and arena
A January 2026 Inven post averaged the top five arena players of each class across all Korean servers:
- Ranger: 2,897.4
- Gladiator: 2,880.4
- Sorcerer: 2,844.4
- Templar: 2,686
- Spiritmaster: 2,681.6
- Cleric: 2,655
- Chanter: 2,602.8
- Assassin: 2,584.4
A later statistics post from March 2026, using players rated 3,500 and above, scored Assassin and Spiritmaster highest in Abyss and solo dungeon PvP. The two posts disagree on Assassin because they measure different things: duel style arena versus open field fights.
The balance also moved. NC's 25 March 2026 update gave every class a new Stigma skill (Assassin got Shadowstep, Ranger got Supporting Fire) and blocked chaining Immune and Immortal effects inside 30 seconds. Any PvP ranking older than that should be read loosely.
In AION 2 the best class for a buyer and the best class for a player are often different. A Chanter at average gear gets more party invites than a top tier Assassin with average gear, because damage classes are judged by Combat Power while supports are judged by being there.
Best class by goal
- First MMO or first AION: Gladiator. Easy to learn, durable, strong damage. GameRant also calls it the safe pick for melee beginners.
- Fastest solo levelling: Ranger or Spiritmaster. GameRant names Ranger among the fastest levellers, and NC built Spiritmaster for solo play.
- Guaranteed groups: Chanter, then Templar and Cleric.
- Highest damage ceiling: Assassin, if your gear keeps up. A geared AION 2 account closes that gap fastest.
- PvP from range: Ranger or Sorcerer.
What about the Brawler?
Korea and Taiwan added a ninth class, the gauntlet wielding Brawler, in NC's "Chapter 1. Lands of Sand and Snow" update on 6 July 2026. It is not in the global version. NC has not announced a global date, so do not delay your pick waiting for it.

Yes. The global client calls the orb summoner Spiritmaster. Many English guides written from the Korean client translate it as Elementalist.
What is the easiest class for beginners?
Gladiator. It is durable, hits wide areas and forgives positioning mistakes. Ranger is the easiest ranged option.
