ARC Raiders - Geiger Counter Guide: Best Locations, Routes, and What to Do With It

February 14, 2026·METAMMO Team

What the Geiger Counter Is and Why You Need It

The Geiger Counter is an Epic Exodus loot item used mainly as high‑value recycling material in ARC Raiders. You can’t craft or buy it - it only drops as rare loot in specific high‑tier interiors, and is often needed for late‑game projects or to break down into Exodus Modules and Batteries.

Recycling a single Geiger Counter gives: 3× Batteries + 1× Exodus Module, or you can sell it for 3,500 Raider Coins at vendors. Because Exodus Modules and Batteries are late‑game bottlenecks, most players treat Geiger Counters as premium scrap for upgrading gear, not something to sell.

Where to Find Geiger Counters - Best Zones

Geiger Counters drop in Exodus loot zones - mainly indoor, high‑tech areas in Stella Montis and the Spaceport.

Stella Montis - Assembly & Business Center

These two POIs are your primary farming spots.

  • Run Assembly and Business Center interiors, focusing on corridors and office‑like rooms.
  • Look for red mailbox‑style resource containers along walls – tall, rectangular boxes with red fronts.
  • These specific red containers have a noticeably higher chance to drop Geiger Counters compared to generic loot crates.

Stella Montis - Medical Research Lab

The Medical Research area is another very consistent location.

  • Inside labs, search for tall square grey drawer units built into the walls: blocks with six drawers, some of which are missing.
  • These lab drawer blocks are flagged to drop Exodus‑tier items, including Geiger Counters.

Spaceport - Rocket Assembly

The Spaceport’s Rocket Assembly zone shares the same Exodus loot pool.

  • Work through the Rocket Assembly interior, checking high‑tech containers and side rooms.
  • Geiger Counters drop here alongside other Exodus items (e.g., Exodus Modules), so any purple‑rarity scrap is a good sign you’re in the right area.

Rule of thumb: If you’re in an indoor, futuristic facility (offices, labs, assembly lines) in Stella Montis or the Spaceport, and you see red mailboxes or grey drawer walls, you’re in Geiger Counter territory.

Farming Route and Drop Rate Expectations

Geiger Counters are rare – you should expect multiple runs before you see one. They share their loot table with other Exodus items, especially Exodus Modules, which sometimes drop instead.

Recommended farming loop

A simple, efficient loop many players use:

  1. Deploy into Stella Montis.
  2. Run through Assembly → Business Center → Medical Research Lab, looting:
    • red mailbox‑style containers in corridors;
    • grey drawer walls inside labs and offices.
  3. Extract as soon as you clear those interiors and your bags are full.
  4. Repeat the loop.

You can mix in Spaceport Rocket Assembly runs if you get burned out on Stella Montis, but for pure efficiency, most guides put Stella Montis interiors slightly ahead.

Managing expectations

  • Don’t expect one per run – think in terms of session‑based RNG: a couple of hours of targeted farming might yield 1–3 Geiger Counters plus several Exodus Modules.
  • Community feedback is that Geiger Counters feel “streaky”: you may see none for several raids and then get two back‑to‑back.

What to Do With Geiger Counters (Recycle vs Sell)

Once you finally get Geiger Counters, you have two options.

Recycling (recommended)

  • Recycle output: 3× Batteries + 1× Exodus Module.
  • Both resources are crucial for high‑end upgrades, crafting, and late‑game projects.

Because Exodus Modules are rarer and more valuable than raw Raider Coins, most late‑game guides strongly recommend recycling rather than selling, unless you are absolutely desperate for currency.

Selling for Raider Coins

  • Vendor sell value: 3,500 Raider Coins per Geiger Counter.
  • This is decent early on, but quickly becomes inefficient compared to what you can do with the Batteries and Modules.

A good rule:

  • Early game – if you have no use for Exodus Modules yet, selling one or two Geiger Counters to stabilize your economy is fine.
  • Mid/late game – almost always recycle them; Batteries and Exodus Modules will bottleneck your progression long before Raider Coins do.
