Her Legacy is an Encounter side quest in Where Winds Meet's Qinghe region: a treasure hunt Ruby left behind, which you start by finding the Unsent Treasure Map on a brewery shelf in Heaven's Pier after Chapter 1. It takes you through five clue sites, a fishing contest and an archery contest, and ends with a dream of Ruby and her red knot accessory.
There are no dialogue choices that change the outcome, and no fail state beyond the two mini-games, which you can retry. It is one of the earliest Encounters in the game, so it is often the first one players finish.

How to start Her Legacy
- Finish the main quest "Heaven Has No Pier", the end of Chapter 1. TheGamer's guide points to "For Whom Does He Return" as the final Chapter 1 step, so finish the chapter fully.
- Fast travel back to Heaven's Pier.
- Enter the brewery. Search the lowest shelf of the middle wine racks.
- Interact with the rolled scroll. You receive the Unsent Treasure Map and Her Legacy starts automatically.
If the scroll is not there, you have not finished Chapter 1 yet. Encounter quests only appear once their trigger is met, and you can track progress under Quest, Encounter in the menu.
Her Legacy walkthrough
Step 1: Win the Old Angler's fishing contest
The first map points to the lake by the waterfall west of Heaven's Pier, near Peace Bell Tower, between Kilnfire Ridge and Heaven's Pier. Talk to the Old Angler and accept his challenge. Nerdschalk's walkthrough lists the target as three Black Bream using a level 1 rod and five worm bait.
- No rod or bait? Buy them from the peddler in Heaven's Pier.
- Keep the tension gauge in the green zone while reeling.
- When the fish pulls hard, tap instead of holding, and back off before the bar reaches red.
Win and he hands over a letter and the next treasure map.
Step 2: Break the vases at General's Shrine
Go to General's Shrine and find the red building with green window slats (the storeroom). Smash the vases piled in front of it and pick up the map underneath. The Sweeping Villager nearby confirms he saw "the Red Heroine" leave it there.
Step 3: The Woodcutter's rooftop at the Abandoned Temple
The next stop is on the west side, by a large tree overlooking a ruined building, reached south of the Kilnfire Ridge boundary stone. Talk to the Woodcutter at the foot of the tree, then climb onto the roof of the nearby building. The letter and next map are up there, pointing you to the Bamboo Grove.
Step 4: Beat the Hunter's archery challenge
Head to the bend in the road at Bamboo Abode, south of the North Bamboo Grove boundary stone. The Hunter challenges you to shoot down nearby birds. TheGamer recommends using the Still Waters skill to make aiming easier. Win and he gives you a note pointing to Bamboo Grove Hut.
Step 5: Bamboo Grove Hut and the dream
Clear the wolves around the hut if they are present, then examine the note behind the hut, near the back steps. Read Ruby's letter to receive her red knot accessory. Finally, go inside and meditate. This triggers a dream sequence with Ruby, and the quest completes when you wake.
The hunt ends where your journey began. Ruby planned the route in advance, so every stop is a place from Chapter 1, and the meditation inside the hut is the only way to trigger the ending. Read the letter and leave, and the quest stays open.

Fextralife and Nerdschalk both list these amounts, and Fextralife adds 100 Enlightenment Points. GameRant's earlier guide shows 24 exploration and 1,000 EXP, so small numbers may vary by version. Some guides call the cosmetic the Red Thread, it is the same item.
The Echo Jade is the part that matters. It is premium currency, and Qinghe Exploration counts toward the 6,000 points you need to unlock the Halo Peak campaign and, later, the Qinghe true ending.
Her Legacy and Twisted Destiny
Bamboo Grove Hut is also where the Twisted Destiny encounter picks up. Fextralife notes the two overlap at the hut, tied to sacks lying near it, and that Twisted Destiny is part of a larger mystery chain. If you see sacks there after Her Legacy, that is your next lead.
Her Legacy also counts toward "Quirks of Fate - Qinghe", the trophy for completing three Encounters in Qinghe. Note that unaccepted Encounters (question mark icon) can vanish from the map, so start them as soon as you spot them. Our Where Winds Meet trophy guide covers the rest of the list.
Common problems
- Scroll missing: Chapter 1 is not finished yet.
- Losing the fishing contest: stop holding the reel when tension spikes. Short taps keep it out of the red.
- Cannot find the rooftop clue: it is on the building next to the Woodcutter's tree, not the tree itself. Climb up.
- Quest will not complete: you must meditate inside the hut after reading the letter.
