BlizzCon 2026's opening ceremony ran on 12 September and announced further ahead than any Blizzard show in years — two flagship games dated to 2029 and 2030, alongside content arriving in the next three weeks.

World of Warcraft
The headline is World of Warcraft: Forever, Blizzard's Classic+ — vanilla Azeroth continued forward with roughly 1,000 new quests, four new zones, nine dungeons, the Skyborne race and a level cap of 60. Beta from 17 September, launch 4 November, included with a standard subscription.
On the retail side, Eclipse (patch 12.2) is the mid-expansion update to Midnight, and The Last Titan — the Worldsoul Saga finale — gets its details in early 2027. Warcraft III Reforged also received a new campaign, Forsaken Kingdom, available immediately with a 3.0 graphics update.
Diablo
Diablo V arrives in Spring 2029 on a premise Blizzard stated bluntly: Sanctuary has fallen and Diablo has won. Mephisto returns.
Closer to hand, Diablo IV's Season of Hell's Legacy begins 15 September with the Prime Evils and Deckard Cain, and the game arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 the same day. The Amazon — a javelin class — follows in the first half of 2027. A Diablo animated series is in development at Netflix with no details yet.
StarCraft
StarCraft returns in Spring 2030, and not as a strategy game: it is an original open-world shooter, led by Ubisoft veteran Dan Hay. The reveal trailer showed Dominion recruits in training.
Overwatch
Season 5 introduces Doctrine, a life-draining Support hero, and a new map, Watchpoint: Grimsvöln. The next Overwatch Spotlight is set for February 2027.
Hearthstone
Reign of the Black Empire lands 20 October, set thousands of years in Azeroth's past, and introduces Assemble, a keyword that merges the text of two cards. Aberrations join Battlegrounds on 22 September. In March 2027 the Monk becomes the game's first new class in six years.
Heroes of the Storm
Xal'atath joins on 28 September, playable on the PTR from the 14th.
What actually matters in the next three weeks
Most of this show is years out. Three things are not: Diablo IV's new season on 15 September, the WoW Forever beta on 17 September, and the Hearthstone expansion on 20 October. Everything else is a date to remember, not a plan to make.
