Short answer: buy a War Thunder account only with the email bound to the Gaijin account, because Gaijin does not change emails for compromised accounts and whoever holds that email holds the account. Store or marketplace: what is the difference?
On a marketplace you buy from one of many sellers. The platform does not own or check the account; it holds the payment, takes a fee and settles disputes within its cover period. Quality depends on the seller you happen to pick, and the same account is often listed by several resellers at once.
With a direct store there is one seller: the store. It sources the account, checks it by hand and answers for it after the sale. What you give up is third-party escrow, so look at the store's public record before you pay. METAMMO's record is public on G2G, Eldorado and GameBoost.
Why recovery is the main risk with War Thunder
The Gaijin account and the email bound to it are the account. Gaijin's recovery guide explains how a lost account is restored, and without the email a previous owner can reset the password and take the account back. Gaijin Pass, Gaijin's own authenticator app, asks for a code when the account signs in from a new device; after the sale the previous owner's Gaijin Pass must be removed and yours connected.
An account created through Steam needs an email bound to it before it can log in from the regular launcher, and if the Steam account is part of the listing, it is part of what you need to receive.
The publisher risk is separate. Gaijin's Terms of Service prohibit selling, buying, renting, exchanging or giving away an account (clause 3.6). No seller can remove that risk; a warranty can only cover the previous owner taking the account back.

Every marketplace above holds your payment until delivery, which protects you against a seller who never hands over the login. Their cover then runs for a fixed period, while a recovery by a previous owner can come months later. That gap is why the length of cover matters as much as having cover at all.
PC, console or mobile
Console accounts are a separate product. Gaijin has suspended transfers of PlayStation and Xbox accounts to PC until further notice, and War Thunder Mobile progress cannot move to or from the PC and console game. Buy on the platform you play.
Gaijin also retires premium packs after store sales: six left sale on 14 May 2026, among them the MiG-21 Bison and F-20A Tigershark. Retired packs are only available on accounts that bought them, so check the vehicle is really in the hangar.
What to check before paying
- The Gaijin email. You should end up controlling the Gaijin account and the email bound to it.
- Gaijin Pass moved to you. The previous owner's authenticator removed, yours connected.
- Which nations are at top tier, in air, ground or both. Ask for screenshots of each researched tree.
- The vehicles the title names. Premium, event and Battle Pass vehicles cannot be researched. Ask for a hangar screenshot, not a list.
- Silver Lions, Golden Eagles and premium time. Ask for a current screenshot of the wallet and the premium account timer.
- Low level with one top vehicle. Many cheap listings are a low-level account with a single bought top-tier vehicle. Read the level and the trees, not only the vehicle name.
Red flags
- A seller who will not hand over the registration email.
- A console account sold as playable on PC.
- Rare premium vehicles listed with no hangar screenshot.
- A request to pay outside the marketplace to save fees.
- A promise that the account cannot be banned.
