SHD, Expertise and Prototype
What every number on a Division 2 account listing means — and which ones take the longest to earn.
Level 40
The Warlords of New York expansion (March 2020) raised the level cap to 40. Every serious account sold today is level 40.
SHD level
Endgame progression after level 40 with no cap; each level adds a small bonus. Listings quote it as “10K SHD”, “212K SHD”.
Expertise
Account-wide progression added in Title Update 15 (May 2022): reaching proficiency with an item type lets you raise the grade of individual items of that type. Upgrades cost materials, rising to Exotic Components at higher grades. Sellers quote Expertise 30 as maxed.

Exotic Components (EC)
The material for crafting, reconfiguring and upgrading exotics, gained mainly by deconstructing exotics. A large stock (“2400 EC”) saves weeks of farming.

Prototype gear
A Year 8 rarity above High-End (Rise Up, April 2026), for level-40 items with maxed Expertise and optimised attributes. Prototype gear carries Augments that level to 10 and can be rerolled. Season 4 is set to rework the system.

Escalation
A permanent difficulty from Rise Up: runs cost Tokens, which you win or lose by outcome; weekly missions and strongholds with no checkpoints.
Countdown and Descent
Countdown (Season 9) gives a team 15 minutes to stabilise a failing nuclear power station; Descent (April 2023) is a roguelike mode that starts you with basic weapons.

What does SHD level mean on a Division 2 account?
It is the endgame level that keeps rising after level 40, with a small bonus per level. A high SHD level shows how much an account has been played; sellers lead with it.
What is Expertise 30 in The Division 2?
Expertise is account-wide upgrade progression for weapons, gear and skills (Title Update 15). Expertise 30 is the figure players and sellers quote as the maximum.
What is Prototype gear in The Division 2?
A gear rarity added in Year 8 Season 1 (Rise Up, April 2026) above High-End, with Augments that level up to 10. It needs level-40 gear with maxed Expertise.
