Dead by Daylight cross-progression lets you sync one account per platform to a single Behaviour Account, so characters, perks, cosmetics, DLC and most currencies are shared on Steam, Epic, Windows Store, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch. Once you sync, it is permanent: Behaviour says platforms cannot be unsynced, and Player Support cannot reverse it.
Cross-progression key facts
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Live since | 22 July 2024 |
| Platforms | Steam, Epic Games Store, Windows Store, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 |
| Accounts per platform | One. You cannot sync two Steam accounts. |

| Can you unsync? | No. The process is irreversible. |
| Achievements and trophies | Stay on each platform |
| Settings | Not synced |
Linking versus syncing
Behaviour's FAQ separates two steps. Linking connects a platform account, such as your Steam or PSN account, to your Behaviour Account. Syncing merges the Dead by Daylight data on those accounts so progress is shared from then on.
The FAQ is strict about both. Once a provider account is linked, you cannot unlink it and swap in a different one, although re-linking the same account after an unlink has no delay. After syncing, you cannot unlink the provider account at all, and support will not do it on request.

What transfers and what does not
| Item | Shared after sync? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Character levels and perks | Yes | Highest value wins on every platform |
| Items and offerings | Yes | Higher value is used |
| Cosmetics (outfits, charms) | Yes | Except platform exclusive cosmetics |
| Purchased DLC | Yes | Switch eShop DLC does not leave Switch |
| Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards, Rift Fragments | Yes, pooled | Shared on all platforms, Switch included |
| Auric Cells | Yes, one shared wallet | Not on Switch |
| Achievements and trophies | No | A few may unlock if synced progress meets the requirements |
| Game settings | No | Set them again on each platform |
The highest value rule
Progress is not added together for characters. If Jake is level 50 on Steam and level 3 on Xbox, Behaviour's example says he becomes level 50 on every synced platform. Your strongest platform sets the baseline for each character, so nothing you earned is wasted.
Currency pooling and the Bloodpoint cap
Auric Cells from every synced account move into a new shared wallet, except Switch. Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards and Rift Fragments are added together across all platforms. Watch the Bloodpoint cap: if the combined total goes over 5,000,000, you stop earning Bloodpoints from trials, Daily Challenges and the Archives until you spend down.
Duplicate DLC
If you bought the same DLC on more than one platform, Behaviour does not refund it. Instead, the first sync grants 4,500 Iridescent Shards. Switch DLC is not eligible for this gift.
The Nintendo Switch exception
Switch and Switch 2 are on the platform list, but Switch plays by its own rules:
- Auric Cells bought on Switch stay on Switch and cannot be shared.
- DLC flows from other platforms to Switch, never from Switch to anywhere else.
- Characters and outfits bought in the in-game store on Switch are shared. Only Nintendo eShop DLC is locked.
- Progress for characters you have not unlocked on another platform waits for you, and prestiged characters' unique perks become usable right away.
- The game must be updated and launched on Switch before syncing.
The practical advice: if you play on Switch and another platform, buy DLC on the other platform so it reaches both.
Cross-progression and buying an account
This is where the permanent sync rule bites. A Steam account with years of Dead by Daylight history may already be linked and synced to the seller's Behaviour Account. Because that sync cannot be undone, the Steam account and that Behaviour Account now travel together.
On a synced account, the Behaviour Account is part of what you are buying. If you only receive the Steam login, the inventory is still tied to a Behaviour Account someone else controls, and you cannot move it onto your own. Ask whether the account is synced before anything else.
Questions to ask before you pay
- Is this platform account linked or synced to a Behaviour Account?
- If yes, will the Behaviour Account email be handed over together with the platform account?
- Do you already have a synced account on the same platform? You can only sync one per platform, so a second Steam account cannot join your existing Behaviour Account.
- Do you want to merge it with your console progress? Remember that merge is final.
What about Legacy cosmetics?
Legacy outfits could only be earned before November 2016, before the console versions launched, so genuine Legacy lives on PC accounts.
Behaviour's FAQ says cosmetics are shared except platform exclusive ones but does not say how Legacy is treated. We found no official statement either way, so do not buy assuming Legacy will appear on console. Our Dead by Daylight Legacy account guide covers how to verify it.

How to set up cross-progression
- Update and launch Dead by Daylight on each platform you plan to sync.
- Create or log in to your Behaviour Account at account.bhvr.com.
- Open the connections page and link one account per platform.
- Press sync. Sync time depends on how much data the accounts hold and how many players are syncing.
- Check for the Campfire Charm, which every player receives on first sync.

Frequently asked questions
Can I unsync Dead by Daylight cross-progression?
No. Behaviour states there is no way to unsync an account once syncing is activated, and Player Support cannot override this.
Can I sync two Steam accounts?
No. You can link and sync one account per platform, for example one Steam, one Epic and one Xbox account, but never two Steam accounts.
Do Auric Cells transfer to Nintendo Switch?
No. Auric Cells are pooled on every other platform, but Switch keeps its own and cannot share them in either direction.
Does DBD cross-progression include Nintendo Switch 2?
Yes. Behaviour's Cross-Progression FAQ lists Nintendo Switch 2 among the participating platforms. The FAQ's Switch restrictions on Auric Cells and eShop DLC do not treat Switch 2 separately.
Do achievements transfer with cross-progression?
No. Trophies and achievements are platform specific. A few may unlock automatically when synced progress already meets their requirements.
