Where to Buy a Dead by Daylight Account Safely in 2026: Store vs Marketplaces, Legacy and What to Check

·METAMMO Team

Short answer: buy a Dead by Daylight account that owns the game on Steam (not through Family Sharing), comes with the Steam email, and, if it is sold on Legacy, has a 2016 Steam history behind it. A direct store such as METAMMO sells to you itself, checks every account by hand and covers it for life against recovery by a previous owner; escrow marketplaces such as G2G, Eldorado and PlayerAuctions host many sellers and cover you for days or weeks. Do not sync a bought account to your own Behaviour Account until you are sure: cross-progression cannot be undone.

Marketplace terms below come from each platform's own help pages, checked 6 October 2026. Dead by Daylight facts come from Behaviour's own support pages and terms, with the community wiki where noted. This guide was updated on 20 October 2026.

Store or marketplace: what is the difference?

On a marketplace you buy from one of many sellers. The platform does not own or check the account; it holds the payment, takes a fee and settles disputes within its cover period. Quality depends on the seller you happen to pick, and the same account is often listed by several resellers at once.

With a direct store there is one seller: the store. It sources the account, checks it by hand and answers for it after the sale. What you give up is third-party escrow, so look at the store's public record before you pay. METAMMO's record is public on G2G, Eldorado and GameBoost.

Two risks: recovery and fake Legacy

Most valuable Dead by Daylight accounts are Steam accounts, and the Steam account and its email are what you buy. A seller who keeps the email, or who can prove ownership to Steam Support, can take the account back after a short warranty ends.

The second risk is the account itself. Legacy could be earned only before 24 November 2016, on the nine characters that existed then (Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake, Nea, Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly and Nurse), and the console versions launched in 2017. Behaviour's support lists unearned Legacy and using someone else's save file as permanent-ban offences. Cheap "all Legacy unlocked" offers are exactly what gets banned.

Then there are the rules. Behaviour's EULA grants a personal, non-transferable licence and forbids selling virtual goods for real money, and Valve's Steam Subscriber Agreement says you may not sell or transfer your account. No seller can remove that risk.

Platform-wide account terms from each platform's own help pages, checked 6 October 2026; they apply to any Dead by Daylight account bought there. Other sites such as Z2U, EpicNPC and FunPay also carry game account listings; we have not compared their terms here. Dispute handling and seller checks are compared in our marketplace comparison.

Every marketplace above holds your payment until delivery, which protects you against a seller who never hands over the login. Their cover then runs for a fixed period, while a recovery by a previous owner can come months later. That gap is why the length of cover matters as much as having cover at all.

Cross-progression and shared licences

Behaviour's Cross-Progression FAQ says the link cannot be undone, not even by support. If you link a bought Steam account to your own Behaviour Account, the two are tied for good, and platform-exclusive cosmetics still stay on Steam.

If the game is borrowed through Steam Family Sharing and the lender is game-banned, every borrowing account loses the base game and DLC. The account you buy should own Dead by Daylight itself. Hellraiser and Halloween chapters can no longer be bought, so a listing that names Pinhead or Michael Myers should show the DLC list.

What to check before paying

  1. The Steam account and its email. Plus the Behaviour Account email, which you change with a verification code after the sale.
  2. The game is owned, not shared. No Family Sharing.
  3. Legacy history, not only the cosmetic. Ask for the Steam profile: account age, hours in Dead by Daylight and the game's achievements. Legacy on a low-level profile with few hours is a warning sign.
  4. Each Legacy piece in game. An in-game screenshot of each piece on the character it is claimed for.
  5. Delisted chapters. If the title names them, ask for the DLC list.
  6. Bans on the profile. Ask about VAC or game bans and look at the profile.
  7. MFA after the sale. Change the emails and passwords and turn on multi-factor authentication.

Red flags

  • "All Legacy skins unlocked" or "permanent unlock" for a few dollars.
  • Legacy on a console, Epic or Windows Store account with no Steam history behind it.
  • A Steam profile created after 2016, or a few hundred hours with Legacy on several characters.
  • A private profile and no screenshots of the Legacy pieces.
  • A promise that the account cannot be banned.

How METAMMO handles Dead by Daylight accounts

METAMMO is a store, not a marketplace: you buy every account from METAMMO, not from an individual seller, and each one is checked by hand: we sign in, look at each Legacy piece on its character, the owned chapters and the hours, and check the Steam profile's age and achievements against the title. So the deal and the recovery risk are ours. Our warranty is lifetime and covers one thing: if a previous owner ever takes the account back, you get a replacement of equal value or a full refund, your choice. Bans by Behaviour or Valve are not covered, because no seller controls them.

We have sold game accounts for years and know how Behaviour or Valve's rules and bans work, so we tell you what to avoid. Delivery is usually within minutes to a few hours, at most 24, with help moving the email and logins to yours. If the account you want is not listed, tell us the characters, Legacy or chapters you want and we look for one.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the safest place to buy a Dead by Daylight account?

A seller that hands over the Steam account with its email, on a game that is owned rather than shared, and covers recovery for longer than a few days. METAMMO is a store: you buy from METAMMO, every account is checked by hand and carries a lifetime warranty against recovery by a previous owner.

How do I know Legacy on an account is real?

It should be on a Steam account that played in 2016, on one of the nine characters that existed then, with the hours and achievements to match. Behaviour bans unearned Legacy permanently.

Can I move a bought Steam account to my PlayStation or Xbox?

Through cross-progression, yes, but the link is permanent and platform-exclusive cosmetics are not shared. Think before you sync.

Can I still buy the Hellraiser or Halloween chapter?

No. Both were removed from sale, so Pinhead and Michael Myers only come with an account that already owns them.

Is buying a Dead by Daylight account against the rules?

Yes. Behaviour's EULA grants a non-transferable licence and Steam's Subscriber Agreement forbids selling an account. METAMMO's warranty covers recovery by a previous owner, not bans.
