Before you buy a Dead by Daylight account
Seven things to check, most of them about Legacy: where it can exist, how to tell it was earned, and how cross-progression changes the account once you sync it.
Checklist
What to check
- 1
Legacy must be on a Steam account from 2016
Legacy could be earned only before 24 November 2016, and the console versions launched in June 2017. Earned Legacy therefore lives on a Steam account that played Dead by Daylight in 2016.

- 2
Look for history, not just the cosmetic
Ask for the Steam profile: account age, hours in Dead by Daylight and the game’s achievements. Players in the community flag Legacy on a low-level profile with few hours as a sign of a cheated account; one such account’s owner had a banned main.

- 3
Only the nine 2016 characters
Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake, Nea, Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly and Nurse. Ask for an in-game screenshot of each Legacy piece on the character it is claimed for.
- 4
Do not sync before you are sure
Cross-progression cannot be undone, not even by support. If you link a bought Steam account to your own Behaviour Account, the two are tied for good, and platform-exclusive cosmetics still stay on Steam.
- 5
Own the game, not a shared licence
If the game is borrowed through Steam Family Sharing and the lender is game-banned, every borrowing account loses the base game and DLC. The account you buy should own Dead by Daylight itself.
- 6
Delisted chapters: check they are owned
Hellraiser and Halloween cannot be bought any more. If a listing names Pinhead or Michael Myers, ask for the DLC list or the character in game.

Change the email and turn on MFA
After the sale, change the Steam email and password and the Behaviour Account email (a verification code is sent, valid for 5 minutes), and turn on multi-factor authentication.

Red flags
When to walk away
- “All Legacy skins unlocked” or “permanent unlock” for a few dollars: Behaviour permanently bans unearned Legacy.
- Legacy on a console, Epic or Windows Store account with no Steam history behind it.
- A Steam profile created after 2016, or a few hundred hours with Legacy on several characters.
- Private profile and no screenshots of the Legacy pieces on the characters.
- A game owned through Family Sharing, or a profile with a VAC or game ban the seller does not mention.

How we verify and what we promise
Every Dead by Daylight account we list is checked by hand: we sign in, look at each Legacy piece on its character, the owned chapters and the hours, and check the Steam profile’s age and achievements against the title. Delivery is in a private support chat, with help moving the email to yours and turning on two-factor authentication.
Our warranty is lifetime and covers one thing: recovery by a previous owner. If that happens, you get a replacement or a refund. It does not cover bans by Behaviour or Valve. Full terms: warranty.
What the rules say
Behaviour’s EULA grants a limited, personal, non-transferable licence and forbids selling or trading virtual goods for real money; its Terms of Use say virtual goods remain Behaviour’s property. Valve’s Steam Subscriber Agreement says you may not sell or transfer your account. Behaviour’s ban policy escalates from 48 hours to a week, a month and a permanent ban, and lists unearned Legacy and using someone else’s save file as permanent-ban offences. We say this plainly because it is the one risk no seller can remove.

Answers
Buying a Dead by Daylight account: FAQ
Is buying a Dead by Daylight account allowed?
No. Behaviour’s EULA grants a personal, non-transferable licence and forbids selling virtual goods for real money, and Steam’s Subscriber Agreement forbids selling or transferring a Steam account. Any bought account carries a ban risk that no seller can remove.
How do I know Legacy on an account is real?
It should be on a Steam account that played in 2016, on one of the nine characters that existed then, with the hours and history to match. Behaviour treats Legacy obtained after 24 November 2016 as cheating and bans it permanently.
Can I move a bought Steam account to my PlayStation or Xbox?
Through cross-progression, yes, but the link is permanent and platform-exclusive cosmetics are not shared. Think before you sync.
How does METAMMO check a Dead by Daylight account?
By hand before listing: we sign in, compare the Legacy pieces, characters, chapters and hours with the title, and check the Steam profile’s age and achievements. Delivery includes help changing the email and turning on two-factor authentication.
What does the METAMMO warranty cover?
If a previous owner ever recovers the account, the original buyer gets a replacement or a refund, for the life of the account. It does not cover bans by Behaviour or Valve, or losses from sharing your login.
