Most famous Fortnite OG skins are no longer exclusive in 2026: Renegade Raider, Aerial Assault Trooper, Skull Trooper and Ghoul Trooper have all been sold again. What stays exclusive is the original owner style on each of them, plus a short list of Battle Pass and promo outfits that have never returned.

The skins that came back, and the styles that did not
Epic brought the Season 1 Season Shop back on 20 December 2024. Players could buy Aerial Assault Trooper after earning 1,000,000 XP and Renegade Raider after 1,500,000 XP, echoing the 2017 level requirements. The outfits stayed available until 31 January 2026, which put both skins on a very large number of new accounts.
In the same announcement Epic promised a reward for original buyers. It arrived in Update v33.20 as the Black & Gold style, which the Fortnite wiki lists as exclusive to players who bought each outfit in 2017. That style, not the outfit, is now the proof of an OG Renegade Raider or Aerial Assault Trooper.
Skull Trooper and Ghoul Trooper
Both Halloween outfits launched on 26 October 2017 and have returned almost every October since. As of 10 October 2026 both are in the Item Shop for Fortnitemares, which runs until 1 November. Anyone can own them this month.
The wiki marks two styles as exclusive to 2017 buyers: Purple Glow on Skull Trooper and Pink on Ghoul Trooper. Without those styles, the skin on an account says nothing about its age.
Skins that have never returned
A smaller group is still locked to the people who earned or bought it the first time. These carry the most weight on an OG account because nothing about them can be bought today.
- Black Knight. Unlocked at Tier 70 of the Chapter 1 Season 2 Battle Pass, released 14 December 2017. The wiki records no Item Shop appearance.
- Sparkle Specialist, Blue Squire and Royale Knight. Chapter 1 Battle Pass rewards from before the August 2024 policy change, so the new return rule does not apply to them.
- Travis Scott. Sold for six days in April 2020 and absent for more than 2,350 days since.
- Galaxy, IKONIK, Honor Guard, Eon and Double Helix. Hardware bundle promotions tied to Samsung, Honor, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
A trap in 2026: the Mystery Inc. set added a back bling called The Black Knight in Chapter 6 Season 4, and it has been in the Item Shop as recently as July 2026. A screenshot of that back bling is not the Season 2 outfit.

Will Battle Pass skins come back now?
In August 2024 Epic changed its exclusivity rule. Items from Battle Passes released after 7 August 2024 may appear in the Item Shop 18 or more months after the pass ends. The first returns began on 28 June 2026 with items from Chapter 5 Season 4.
The policy covers new passes only. Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 Battle Pass outfits, including Black Knight, sit outside it, so their status has not changed. Skins from recent passes, on the other hand, should not be valued as permanent rarities.
How to check an OG account before buying
- Open the style menu. Ask for a live video of the locker with Black & Gold, Purple Glow or Pink selected. A still image of the default style proves nothing.
- Match the season to the item. Black Knight with no other Season 2 items is unusual. Real early accounts tend to carry clusters from the same seasons.
- Look at the full locker. Skin count, emotes such as Take The L or Floss, and pickaxes like Raider's Revenge help confirm the account's age.
- Confirm platform links. Note which consoles are linked and whether the buyer will play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Switch.
- Get the original email. An account delivered with its first email is much harder for a previous owner to reclaim.

Frequently asked questions
Is Renegade Raider still rare in 2026?
The outfit itself is not. It was sold in the OG Season Shop from December 2024 to January 2026. The Black & Gold style, granted only to 2017 buyers, is what remains rare.
Did Black Knight ever return to the Item Shop?
No. The outfit was a Tier 70 reward in the Chapter 1 Season 2 Battle Pass and has no Item Shop appearance on record. A newer back bling uses the same name.
How can I tell an OG Skull Trooper?
Check for the Purple Glow style in the locker. It is exclusive to players who bought Skull Trooper in 2017. The outfit alone is in the Item Shop during October 2026.
Is Ghoul Trooper back in October 2026?
Yes. Ghoul Trooper is in the Item Shop for Fortnitemares 2026. Only original 2017 owners have the Pink style, so that style is the proof of age.
Will recent Battle Pass skins become rare?
Probably not. Under the August 2024 rule, items from newer passes can be sold again 18 months after the pass ends, and returns started in June 2026.
