Blizzard has not announced a release date for Sunwell Plateau in TBC Anniversary: the official roadmap lists Phase 4, Fury of the Sunwell, as autumn 2026, and BlizzCon in September added no date. With Zul'Aman confirmed for October 22, 2026, Sunwell is the last raid of the expansion and the final gear tier this realm cycle will see.

Release date: what is confirmed and what is not
Every Anniversary phase so far arrived on a Thursday at a fixed global time and was announced a few weeks ahead. Phase 4 has no announcement yet. Fan coverage of BlizzCon 2026 (September 12 and 13) noted that the keynote focused on WoW Forever and gave no update for the Anniversary track.

Why early December is a reasonable guess
In 2022 Sunwell followed Zul'Aman by 47 days. Adding 47 days to October 22, 2026 lands on December 8, 2026, which still fits Blizzard's "autumn" label. Anniversary has moved faster than 2022 so far, with roughly three months between the first three phases. Treat December as a planning estimate until Blizzard posts a date.
Will bosses be gated?
In 2008 the last three bosses unlocked behind gates on April 8, April 29 and May 20. Blizzard has not said whether Anniversary repeats that schedule, so a full clear in the first week is not guaranteed.
What Phase 4 adds
- Sunwell Plateau: six bosses ending with Kil'jaeden. Nearly every mob has Sunwell Radiance, which raises its melee hit by 5% and reduces your chance to dodge its attacks by 20%, so tanks need more defensive stats than in Black Temple.
- Magisters' Terrace: a level 70 dungeon whose loot includes the Swift White Hawkstrider mount.
- Isle of Quel'Danas: a daily quest zone that develops in stages as players complete quests.
- Shattered Sun Offensive: a reputation with Jewelcrafting, Alchemy and Enchanting recipes.
- Arena: Season 4 was the final arena season of the original expansion. Blizzard has not dated the Anniversary season.
Fewer than one percent of players saw Sunwell before Wrath of the Lich King launched, according to Warcraft Wiki. That history matters for Anniversary: Sunwell will be the hardest gear in the game and WoW Forever arrives on November 4, so a character that already clears Black Temple will be in short supply right when Sunwell guilds start recruiting.
How to prepare before the date drops
- Finish tier 6 in Black Temple and Hyjal. Sunwell drops tier 6 bracers, belts and boots, not full new sets, so your tier 6 bonuses stay in play.
- Use Zul'Aman for badges and trinkets. From October 22 every older raid boss drops Badges of Justice, which speeds up alt gearing.
- Bank gold for epic gems. Epic gems arrive through Magtheridon's sack and Jewelcrafter's Brilliant Glass on October 22.

What Sunwell means if you are buying
Each phase raises the gear bar, and characters that stopped one tier behind lose value. If you plan to raid Sunwell, look for a level 70 with Black Temple or Hyjal tier 6 pieces, a gear score that matches current raiders, and a class that 25 player groups always need. Attunement no longer matters after October 22, so do not pay extra for it.
