What Guide Crystals are (and why you should care)

Guide Crystals are special key items used in a unique puzzle chain in the Court of Savantae Ruins area in Wuthering Waves. They are not a farmable resource or currency - you only need two of them, and they are tied to:

  • a pair of environmental puzzles (pressure plates and energy matrix), and
  • a final device on a cliff above the ruins that unlocks a Premium Supply Chest + Astrite.

Doing this chain is absolutely worth it because:

  • you get a golden chest (Premium Supply Chest) with high‑value loot,
  • you earn 40 Astrite, and
  • you pick up some extra exploration progress and lore related to the old Bridge Project in the region.

Think of Guide Crystals as a one‑time “mini questline” for explorers that rewards you well for solving two distinct puzzles and then putting the pieces together at the top of the ruins.

Where this happens: Court of Savantae Ruins overview

All Guide Crystal content is centered around the Court of Savantae Ruins, in the Huanglong region.

In short:

  • The two Guide Crystals are found around the ruins, each locked behind its own puzzle.
  • Once you have both, you climb to a cliff above the ruins where a small platform with two pedestals awaits.
  • Plug the crystals into the pedestals to unlock the final reward.

A good practical tip:

  • Unlock the nearby Resonance Beacon near the Court of Savantae Ruins first. It makes running between the puzzle locations and the final cliff much faster.

First Guide Crystal - Pressure Plate puzzle

The first Guide Crystal is locked behind a pressure plate puzzle west of the Court of Savantae Ruins.

How to find the pressure plate location

  • Open your map and look slightly west of Court of Savantae Ruins.
  • Look for a square, white‑bordered marker or a structure icon near a stone building.
  • From the nearby Resonance Beacon, glide or run toward that marker until you see a building with a door and several floor plates in front of it.

You’ll know you’re at the right place when:

  • there’s a flat area with pressure plates on the ground,
  • a locked door behind them, and
  • usually some movable objects or clear pressure pattern hints nearby.

How the pressure plate puzzle works (conceptually)

The basic rule:

  • Certain plates must be activated (pressed), others must remain untouched.
  • When the correct combination of plates is active at the same time, the door will unlock.

Typical interaction:

  • Step on plates yourself and/or move boxes/weights onto the plates if the puzzle uses movable blocks.
  • Incorrect combinations may reset or simply do nothing - you’ll know you got it right when you hear a confirmation sound and see the door open.

Different guides show the exact pattern visually, but the important part for your article is:

You need to activate the right subset of plates simultaneously to open the door; once it opens, go inside and loot both the chest and the first Guide Crystal.

Reward inside

Once the puzzle is solved and the door opens, you’ll find:

  • An Advanced or Premium Supply Chest (depending on the patch/translation).
  • The first Guide Crystal on or near an interaction point inside the small room.

Pick up the crystal - it will appear in your inventory as a key item - then move on to the second puzzle.

Second Guide Crystal - Energy Matrix puzzle

The second Guide Crystal is obtained from an Energy Matrix puzzle slightly northeast of the same ruins.

How to find the Energy Matrix location

  • Look north‑east of the Court of Savantae Ruins marker on the map.
  • Again, there should be a white‑bordered structure icon or a special mark indicating a puzzle spot.
  • When you approach, you’ll see a console or frame with multiple energy nodes/blocks arranged in a grid - this is the Energy Matrix.

How the Energy Matrix puzzle works

The Energy Matrix is essentially a block‑placement puzzle:

  • You’re given several energy blocks that can be moved or rotated into a grid/frame.
  • Your goal is to arrange them into a correct pattern so that the entire structure lights up (usually turning fully yellow or bright).

Practical reminder for readers:

  • You don’t need to brute‑force every combination - look for shape hints on the frame or nearby environment (patterns on the ground, broken outlines, etc.).
  • When all segments of the matrix are correctly filled, the puzzle will validate itself with a visual and audio cue, and a nearby door will unlock.

Reward inside

Just like in the first puzzle, solving the Energy Matrix grants you access to:

  • A chest with valuable loot.
  • The second Guide Crystal, found inside the unlocked room.

Once collected, you now have both Guide Crystals needed for the final step.

Final step - using the Guide Crystals on the cliff

With both Guide Crystals in your inventory, you’re ready for the final piece of the chain.

How to find the final pedestal location

  • Open the map around Court of Savantae Ruins again.
  • Look slightly north or on top of the ruins for another marker - the final objective is on a cliff above the ruins, not at ground level.
  • From the ruins or the nearest beacon, climb or glide upwards toward the top of the rock formation above the Court.

When you reach the top, you’ll see:

  • A small platform or altar with two pedestals/slots.
  • Each pedestal is shaped to receive a single Guide Crystal.

How to use the Guide Crystals

  • Interact with each pedestal and insert one Guide Crystal into each.
  • After both pedestals are filled, a short activation animation will play.

This will:

  • Complete the Guide Crystal puzzle chain, and
  • Unlock a Premium Supply Chest right there on the platform.

Rewards for completing the Guide Crystal chain

By doing the full Guide Crystal sequence (both puzzles + final pedestal), you get:

  • A Premium Supply Chest (gold chest) at the final location.
  • 40 Astrite, which is a valuable premium resource for pulls.
  • Additional exploration progress for the Court of Savantae Ruins region.
  • Access to some Bridge Project flavor lore via item descriptions or notes tied to the area.

For an exploration‑focused or F2P player, this is high value for a one‑time effort.

Tips and common pitfalls

  • Do the puzzles in any order
The two Guide Crystals are not order‑locked. You can solve the pressure plates first or the Energy Matrix first - the game only checks that you eventually have both.
  • Unlock nearby Resonance Points first
Activating the Resonance Beacon near Court of Savantae Ruins makes traveling between the puzzles and the final cliff easy and cuts down on backtracking.
  • Don’t overthink the puzzles
Many players spend too long trying to interpret every visual hint. In practice, both puzzles are relatively small and can be solved quickly by experimenting a bit with plate combinations / block placements.
  • Use the map markers
If you’ve approached the structures at least once, they’ll remain visible on your map. This makes it simple to come back later if you needed to break and rest.
  • No need to hoard the crystals
Guide Crystals are purely for this chain. Once you’ve inserted them into the pedestals and opened the chest, their job is done - there’s no “better time” to use them later.
