To get 10K Legion in MapleStory you need a combined level of 10,000 across the 42 highest level characters on one world, plus 17,320 Legion Coins in total to buy every rank up to Legendary Legion Rank V. In practice that means roughly 40 characters at level 250 or higher, which is why 9K and 10K accounts sell as finished endgame accounts.
Legion ranks at a glance
The MapleStory Wiki lists five tiers (Nameless, Renowned, Heroic, Legendary and Supreme), each split into five ranks. Every rank needs a total level and a number of Legion Coins, and each step lets you place more characters on the grid.

How Legion level is counted
Legion level is the total level of your highest level characters on a single world, capped at the top 42. A character must be at least level 60 with the 2nd job advancement to count, and only your highest level Zero counts. You can start a Legion with 500 total levels or one level 200 character with 5th job.
Each character also becomes a block on the synergy grid, and its level sets the block's rank:

Higher block ranks give bigger bonuses. A Hero or Night Walker block gives +10 to +100 of its main stat from B to SSS, while a Phantom block adds 1% to 5% mesos obtained and a Mercedes block cuts skill cooldowns by 2% to 6%. These bonuses apply to every character on the world.
What 10K Legion actually takes
The math is simple. Forty characters at level 250 add up to exactly 10,000. A typical endgame account gets there with a strong main in the high 280s or 290s, a few mains or boss mules in the 260s and 270s, and a long tail of characters around 250. Every one of them had to be leveled on the same world.
Levels are only half of it. Each rank up also costs Legion Coins, which come mainly from the Legion dragon raid: the wiki lists one coin for every 100 billion damage your placed characters deal, plus daily quests. Going from Legendary Rank I to Rank V alone costs 9,250 coins.
A 10K Legion number is two clocks running at once. Characters can be leveled quickly during burning events, but the 17,320 coins behind Legendary Rank V only accumulate over weeks of the dragon raid, so a real 10K account always carries time that no event can compress.
Nexon does not publish a time estimate for reaching 10K, and player reports vary too much to quote one number.
The patch notes show why most players build Legion during burning events. In the summer 2026 event (17 June to 8 September 2026), a Hyper Burning MAX character gained 4 extra levels per level up from 10 to 260, and up to three Tera Burning characters gained 2 extra levels per level up from 10 to 200.
Why 8K, 9K and 10K are the numbers buyers watch
Most endgame accounts are listed with Legion between 8K and 10K, and each step changes what the account can do:
- 8,000 (Legendary Rank I): unlocks Legion Champion. It arrived in v.262 in August 2025 and also needs one character at level 260 or higher.
- 9,000 (Legendary Rank III): 38 members on the grid, enough for most of the important stat blocks at high ranks.
- 10,000 (Legendary Rank V): 40 members on the grid and the top of the Legendary tier. Supreme ranks go up to 12,500 and 45 members.
Legion Champion is a big reason 8K became a buying threshold. You assign up to three champions (a fourth slot was added in v.266 in February 2026), all level 260 or higher. Each one ranks up by beating a boss in Champion mode within a time limit, from Hard Lotus for Rank B to Normal Kalos for Rank SSS.

So a listing that says "4 SSS Champions" is a strong signal: it means four different characters cleared Normal Kalos in Champion mode, which says more about the account than the Legion number alone.
How to verify Legion on an account
- Open the Legion UI on the main. The rank name and the total level are shown together. 10,000 should read Legendary Legion Rank V.
- Check the world. Legion belongs to one world, so a Kronos 10K is useless on Hyperion or Solis.
- Look at the character list. The total should match the levels you see, and the main should be on the same world.
- Do not count event blocks as members. Up to two special blocks, such as the Ride or Die Legion Block, can sit on the grid without using a member slot. They add stats, not Legion level.
- Ask about Champions if the account is 8K or higher, and check their ranks in the Champion tab.
