Short answer: buy a Black Desert Online account for the region you will play (NA, EU, SEA and the others are separate services), with the original email or a confirmed email change to yours, because whoever controls the email can recover the account. Store or marketplace: what is the difference?
On a marketplace you buy from one of many sellers. The platform does not own or check the account; it holds the payment, takes a fee and settles disputes within its cover period. Quality depends on the seller you happen to pick, and the same account is often listed by several resellers at once.
With a direct store there is one seller: the store. It sources the account, checks it by hand and answers for it after the sale. What you give up is third-party escrow, so look at the store's public record before you pay. METAMMO's record is public on G2G, Eldorado and GameBoost.
Why recovery is the main risk with Black Desert
A Black Desert account is either a Pearl Abyss account or a Steam account that logs in to the game. Whoever controls the email behind it can ask support to recover it, weeks after the sale, which is why a cover of a few days is short. Once the account is yours, change the email and turn on Pearl Abyss's one-time password (OTP).
The publisher risk is separate. Pearl Abyss's Terms of Service forbid selling or transferring accounts, and its Operational Policy lists account trading under real money trade, which can lead to restrictions. No seller can remove that risk.

Every marketplace above holds your payment until delivery, which protects you against a seller who never hands over the login. Their cover then runs for a fixed period, while a recovery by a previous owner can come months later. That gap is why the length of cover matters as much as having cover at all.
Region first
Black Desert regions are separate games with separate characters and markets: NA and EU (one Pearl Abyss account, different servers), SEA, MENA, South America, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and more, plus console. An account cannot move between them, and some regions block logins from abroad. Pick the region you will actually play in, and check your ping.
What to check before paying
- The region. Confirm it before anything else.
- Steam or Pearl Abyss login. Sellers write "web", "client" or "launcher" for a Pearl Abyss login. A Steam login means the Steam account is part of the sale.
- Email and OTP. The original email, or an email change to yours, then OTP turned on.
- The gear, not only the number. AP, Awakening AP and DP, the enhancement level of each piece, and which Sovereign, Edana or Ekleta items are on it. Two accounts at the same Gear Score can be very different.
- What is shared and what is not. Storage, maids, pets and Life Skill gear belong to the Family; most combat gear sits on one character. Count what the main you want to play actually wears.
Red flags
- An account on a region you cannot connect to, or sold as "any region".
- A Steam login offered without the Steam account's email.
- Gear Score in the title with no gear window screenshots.
- A request to pay outside the marketplace to save fees.
- A promise that the account cannot be banned.
