WoW Forever Addons: Every Working Addon, Versions and the Beta Bug (Updated 5 October)

October 3, 2026·METAMMO Team
Updated 5 October 2026 — what changed this week
  • New versions: RestedXP 4.11.15, Questie 12.0.3, Leatrix Plus and Maps 1.60.11-forever, Auctionator 340, Bagnon 12.1.6.
  • New addons built only for Forever: ForeverQuest, Talents Forever, Dungeon Quests Forever and MyXPBar Forever.
  • Details!, Baganator, Platynator and EllesmereUI now list the Forever client (1.60.1) as supported.
  • The full sortable list, with what each addon does and what goes wrong with it, is on our WoW Forever addons page.

A new version of WoW means every addon needs a build that targets it. For World of Warcraft: Forever the answer to "does this work?" has been changing weekly through the beta, so this page lists what actually has a Forever file, the version number, and the date it went up. Everything below was checked on CurseForge on 5 October 2026 against client version 1.60.1.

If you are reading this weeks later, treat the version numbers as a floor rather than gospel — check the addon's own page before assuming it has not moved.

Which addons work in WoW Forever right now?

These have a stable Forever file published by the addon's own developer, not a repack by a third party:

New addons made only for WoW Forever

A wave of addons built specifically for Forever appeared in the last week of September. They are young — several are labelled beta — but they cover things the established addons do not:

  • ForeverQuest (0.11.0, 30 Sep) — a quest helper made for Forever, with a customisable tracker, clustered map markers and dotted minimap guidance. The main alternative if Questie’s Forever data lags behind the new quests.
  • Talents Forever (0.37.1, 4 Oct) — plan Forever talents in game without spending a point, follow the plan while levelling, and share builds by link. Useful because the talent trees changed for every class.
  • Dungeon Quests Forever (0.2.4 beta, 4 Oct) — step-by-step guides for every dungeon quest and pre-quest, with an arrow, map pins and auto-tracking.
  • MyXPBar Forever (3.3, 30 Sep) — a customisable XP bar with rested XP, quest XP and XP per hour.

With brand-new addons, check the author and update history before installing, and expect breakage when the launch client arrives on 4 November.

The Leatrix trap: the Classic file is the wrong one

Leatrix Plus and Leatrix Maps publish a separate file ending in -forever. CurseForge will happily hand you the Classic file from the same project page, and it will not work properly.

This catches people who install through an addon manager set to "latest" — the manager picks the Classic build because it has a higher plain version number. Pick the Forever file by name.

Why does RestedXP forget my progress on every reload?

In our testing on beta client 1.60.1, this is the client’s fault, not the addon’s: it writes addon SavedVariables but never reads them back. Blizzard has not acknowledged it. Every /reload or login starts the addon fresh: guide unset, step reset, settings gone.

It affects anything that persists state between sessions. You notice it most in RestedXP because losing your place in a levelling route is immediately obvious, whereas a reset setting elsewhere can go unseen for hours.

The community workaround is a helper that watches the saved-variables file and re-injects the data when the client loads — since the client will write but not read. It treats the symptom. The actual fix has to come from Blizzard, and most likely arrives with the launch client on 4 November.

If you would rather not run a background process on your machine, the alternative costs nothing: accept the reset and re-select your step each session.

What should I install first?

In the order they stop hurting:

  1. Questie — before anything else. Vanilla quest text describes locations in prose; Questie turns that into a marker.
  2. Bagnon — five bag windows is the first thing that becomes unbearable.
  3. Leatrix Plus — the accumulated small frictions.
  4. RestedXP — only if you want to be told which quest to take next, rather than deciding yourself.
  5. Auctionator — once you have gold to spend and things to sell, which on a fresh realm means week two rather than day one.

Do I need both Questie and RestedXP?

They answer different questions. Questie says "where is this objective". RestedXP says "which quest should you be doing at all, and in what order". Most people who level seriously run both.

If you only want one, take Questie — it is the one whose absence you would feel every few minutes.

Will my Classic addons just work?

Not without a Forever build. Forever shares modern WoW’s UI architecture — “the vast majority of APIs available in 12.1.5”, a Blizzard representative wrote, as reported by Icy Veins — with the Midnight-era addon restrictions, so a Classic Era file does not simply load. Content is a second problem: an addon with a hardcoded quest or zone database knows nothing about the Skyborne starting zone or the new quests in revamped zones, and will either show nothing there or show something wrong.

Check the addon's own release notes for a Forever build. A Classic Era file untouched since BlizzCon has not been tested against this client.

Are addons allowed in WoW Forever?

Yes. Addons use Blizzard's own interface API and are permitted.

What is not permitted is automation — anything that plays for you, moves your character, or acts without your input, regardless of how it is packaged. A levelling guide that tells you where to walk is fine. One that walks for you is a bannable category.

How do I install an addon?

Either through an addon manager, or by hand: unzip the folder into World of Warcraft/_retail_'s Forever equivalent, under Interface/AddOns, so that the folder containing the .toc file sits directly inside AddOns. A common mistake is one folder too deep — a folder containing a folder containing the .toc.

Restart the client fully rather than reloading; new addons are only picked up at launch.

What is still missing?

Some categories have no Forever-ready option yet, mostly the data-heavy ones: anything that ships a full item or NPC database needs the launch client's data to be final before it can be trusted. Expect those in the days after 4 November rather than during beta.

Planning the character these addons will serve? Our talents guide covers what changed from Classic, and the Forever hub has every confirmed date. If you would rather skip the levelling entirely, the boosting page has current market rates and the buying guide covers what to check on a launch realm.
