Before you buy a Destiny 2 account

Seven things to check, from which platform account holds the characters to how cross save behaves after a sale, taken from Bungie’s own help center.

Checklist

What to check

  1. 1

Know which platform account holds the characters

Characters live on a Bungie.net profile that signs in through Steam, Epic, PlayStation or Xbox. You need the login and email of that platform account, because a profile that loses all its login methods cannot be recovered.

Bungie.net profile creation, linking and recovery (Bungie Help)

  2. 2

    Check the free platform slots

A profile holds one account per platform, and Bungie no longer allows unlinking one. If you play on PlayStation or Xbox, make sure that slot is still empty (“PSN / Xbox link available”), or that the linked console account is part of the sale.

  3. 3

Understand cross save before you switch it

With cross save, one set of characters plays on every linked platform; characters on the other linked accounts go dormant. Turning cross save off starts a 90-day lockout with no exceptions, and buying Silver also blocks turning it off for 90 days.

  4. 4

    DLC is per platform

Expansions and passes do not follow cross save. If the seller’s account owns every expansion on Steam and you want to play on PlayStation, you would buy them again there.

  5. 5

Verify seals, clears and emblems yourself

Ask for the Bungie Name, then look the account up: raid.report and dungeon.report list every raid and dungeon clear with dates, and Braytech shows Triumphs, seals and collections. A Day One claim should show a clear inside the contest window.

raid.report: raid clears by player (community) · dungeon.report: dungeon clears by player (community) · Braytech: triumphs, collections and checklists (community)

  6. 6

Ask about a Bungie Name change

If you want a new name, check that an unused Name Change token is on the account. Tokens are limited and Bungie only sends them occasionally.

  7. 7

    Ask about Silver refunds

If Silver that was already spent is later refunded or charged back, Bungie leaves a negative Silver balance on the account. A seller who refunds old purchases after the sale leaves the buyer with that debt.

Red flags

When to walk away

  • A “collector” account with only screenshots and no Bungie Name to look up.
  • No email access to the platform account, or a seller who keeps the email “for safety”.
  • Day One or Legacy title claims that raid.report or Braytech do not show.
  • Recently boosted or “recovered” characters: Bungie bans participants in recovery services.
  • A price far below other played accounts with the same seals and exotics.

How we verify and what we promise

Every Destiny 2 account we list is checked by hand: we sign in, compare the characters, exotics, seals and emblems with the title, look up the profile on Braytech and raid.report, and record which platforms are linked and which are free. Delivery is in a private support chat, with help moving the email to yours and turning on two-factor authentication.

Our warranty is lifetime and covers one thing: recovery by a previous owner. If that happens, you get a replacement or a refund. It does not cover bans or restrictions by Bungie. Full terms: warranty.

What Bungie’s rules say

Bungie’s banning policy defines an account recovery as giving someone else access to your platform account and control of your characters, and says buying or selling recovery services can result in a ban, with penalties up to permanent account and device bans. Its Code of Conduct forbids selling account recoveries or carries. Bungie also states that cross save’s 90-day lockout exists to discourage account recoveries, and that it does not remove unauthorized cross save links. We say this plainly because it is the one risk no seller can remove.

Answers

Buying a Destiny 2 account: FAQ

Is buying a Destiny 2 account allowed?

Bungie’s banning policy treats giving another person access to your platform account and characters as an account recovery, and says buying or selling recovery services can lead to a ban; its Code of Conduct forbids selling account recoveries or carries. Any bought account carries that risk, and no seller can remove it.

What do I receive when I buy a Destiny 2 account?

The login and email of the platform account (Steam, Epic, PlayStation or Xbox) that signs in to the Bungie.net profile, so you can change the password and email and turn on two-factor authentication. Our listings say which platforms are linked and which slots are free.

Can I move a bought Destiny 2 account to my console?

Yes, through cross save, if the profile’s PlayStation or Xbox slot is free for your own console account. DLC must be owned on the console too, and if cross save is later switched off it stays off for 90 days.

How does METAMMO check a Destiny 2 account?

By hand before listing: we sign in, check that the characters, exotic count, seals and emblems match the title, confirm which platforms are linked and whether a name change is available. Many of our titles say “BrayTech inside” because the Braytech profile was checked.

What does the METAMMO warranty cover?

If a previous owner ever recovers the account, the original buyer gets a replacement or a refund, for the life of the account. It does not cover bans or restrictions by Bungie, or losses from sharing your login.
