Crossplay arrives in The Division 2 in November 2026, but cross-save does not, so your agent, gear and cosmetics stay on the platform where they were earned. If you are buying an account, buy it on the platform you will actually play, because November's update lets you group with other platforms but will not move your progress.

The crossplay rollout, step by step
Ubisoft announced crossplay at Gamescom 2026, more than seven years after launch. Reports say the team had to partially rebuild the game's online architecture to support it, which is why the rollout is staged.
- 3 November: the game update that ships with Echoes of Central Park adds the crossplay setting, but crossplay is not active yet.
- 10 November: PC players and clans move to the new crossplay environment and play with each other first.
- Mid-November: once the environment is stable, Xbox and PlayStation players are migrated and all platforms can play together.
- Rest of November: time reserved for fixing leftover issues.
With crossplay on, you meet agents from every supported platform who also have it on. Turn it off and you only meet players on your own platform.
Crossplay is not cross-save
This is the point most buyers miss. Crossplay changes who you can play with. It does not change where your character lives. Coverage of the announcement states plainly that cross-saves are not part of the change.
A PlayStation agent with SHD levels, exotics and outfits stays on PlayStation. An Xbox agent stays on Xbox. Buying a console account to play on PC, or the reverse, still leaves you starting from zero on the new platform.
Crossplay makes the platform you play on matter less for finding a group and more for your account. Once everyone shares the same matchmaking pool, the only thing still locked to your platform is your progress, so the platform choice moves entirely to the moment you pick an account.
PC: one Ubisoft account across launchers
On PC the agent is tied to the Ubisoft account, not the storefront. A Ubisoft community manager confirmed that progress is linked to the account, so it carries between Ubisoft Connect and Steam. The same post warned that some additional content may not work unless it is also owned on Steam.
For a buyer, that means two checks on any PC account:
- Which launcher owns the base game and DLC, so you know where to start the game.
- Whether the Ubisoft account email can be changed to yours. Ubisoft sends the change link to the current address, so you need access to that inbox during handover.
Ubisoft also offers optional 2-step verification by email or authenticator app. Turn it on as soon as the account is yours.

What Echoes of Central Park changes
Echoes of Central Park launches on 3 November 2026 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It is set in Central Park and the Upper West Side, on a map larger than Battle for Brooklyn.
- Three AI companions: Brayleigh Callahan (Sniper), Elwood Franklin (Protector) and Morse Feeney (Assault).
- Six new skill variants, including Corrosive Trap and Gas Bomber.
- The Ratel exotic weapon and a new gear set.
- A level boost for players below level 40.
The level boost helps a brand new agent reach the story, but it does not replace endgame progress. SHD levels, Expertise, exotic collections and Prototype gear still take time to build.
Which platform account should you buy?
| You play on | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| PC (Ubisoft Connect, Steam or Epic) | A PC account with full Ubisoft email access | Progress follows the Ubisoft account between PC launchers |
| PlayStation 4 or 5 | A PlayStation account | No cross-save; progress stays on PlayStation |
| Xbox One or Series X | An Xbox account | No cross-save; progress stays on Xbox |
| More than one platform | An account on your main platform | Crossplay lets you group with friends elsewhere without moving progress |

Frequently asked questions
Does The Division 2 have crossplay?
Yes, from November 2026. PC players move to crossplay on 10 November and consoles join around mid-November. It is on by default and can be turned off on the Character Selection screen.
Does The Division 2 have cross-save?
No. Cross-saves are not part of the November change. Progress on PlayStation or Xbox stays on that console, and PC progress stays on PC.
Can I move my PC progress from Ubisoft Connect to Steam?
Yes. Progress is linked to your Ubisoft account, so it carries between Ubisoft Connect and Steam. Some additional content may need to be owned on Steam as well.
Will crossplay reset my clan or leaderboards?
Clans migrate to crossplay and their cap rises from 50 to 100 members. Leaderboards reset when crossplay launches, so note any records you care about beforehand.
Do I need Echoes of Central Park for crossplay?
No source ties crossplay to owning the expansion. The 3 November update that ships with it adds the crossplay setting for everyone, and the feature goes live from 10 November.
