What is in the expansion

A new map in Manhattan

For the first time in the series you can explore Central Park. The playable area also covers the Upper West Side, running from Lincoln Square up to the Dakota District. Ubisoft describes the map as larger than Battle for Brooklyn, and GamingBolt reports it as roughly twice the size. The park served as a mass burial ground during the outbreak, which sets the darker tone.

Story told as a flashback

The campaign is set the summer after Warlords of New York and plays out as a flashback, with a narrator guiding you through her version of events. It starts with a distress call from inside the park. Cleaners and Black Tusk are the factions shown in the reveal coverage.

Three companions

Echoes of Central Park is the first Division 2 content built around AI teammates. You recruit one of three, and each adds a combat role plus a different view of the story:

  • Brayleigh Callahan, Sniper: an MIT graduate and Olympic shooting medalist.
  • Elwood Franklin, Protector: a former mall cop who wants to join the NYPD.
  • Morse Feeney, Assault: a veteran and former first wave Division agent with a mysterious past.

New skills, exotic and gear set

You can earn six new skill variants. Ubisoft has named two so far, the Corrosive Trap and the Gas Bomber. The headline loot is the Ratel exotic weapon, alongside one new gear set. Ubisoft has not yet published the gear set name, the Ratel's talent or its weapon class, so treat any build advice you see before launch as speculation.

The new endgame loop

For long term players the key addition is the replayable endgame inside the park. You start as a hunted survivor with no GPS support, collect gear while enemies track you, and gradually gain the tools and knowledge to turn the tables. Ubisoft says your performance in encounters shapes the opportunities and rewards that come next, so runs will not play out the same way twice.

The no GPS start changes what an account is worth on day one. In most Division content a strong build carries you, but a loop that strips your map and rewards clean play favours agents who already know the enemy archetypes and own several ready builds to swap between.

This also explains why Ubisoft added the level 40 boost. A brand new agent can enter the story immediately, but the boost gives you a level, not a farmed build. Expertise, Exotic Components and Prototype gear still come from playing the existing endgame.

Standard vs Deluxe: which edition to buy

EditionPriceWhat you get
Echoes of Central Park DLC$19.99Map, campaign, companions, endgame loop, skill variants, Ratel, gear set
Echoes of Central Park Deluxe DLC$29.99Everything in Standard, companion-inspired outfits, an exotic weapon skin
Any edition pre-orderedNo extra costNY Purifier Mask

The extra $10 for Deluxe buys cosmetics only. If you play for loot and builds, Standard gives you every gameplay item. Pick Deluxe if you collect outfits, since edition-locked cosmetics tend to stay rare once a DLC leaves its launch window. Our guide to the rarest Division 2 cosmetics covers how that played out for older items.

Crossplay arrives the same week

November 3 is also the start of crossplay. According to Gagadget's breakdown of the announcement, the crossplay setting appears in the client on November 3, PC matchmaking moves on November 10 and consoles follow a few days later. Ubisoft confirms crossplay is on by default, can be switched off on the Character Selection screen, raises clan capacity from 50 to 100 members and resets leaderboards.

Crossplay does not mean cross-save. Your progress stays on the platform where you earned it, which matters if you plan to move to PC for the expansion. Our crossplay and cross-save guide explains which platform to pick.

How to prepare before November 3

  1. Finish the campaign and reach level 40 on your main if you can. The boost works, but a played character knows the systems the park loop tests.
  2. Push Expertise. Expertise raises the ceiling on your gear, and the Division 2 progression guide explains how it stacks with SHD level.
  3. Save Exotic Components. A new exotic and gear set mean you will want to recalibrate and optimise fast.
  4. Build two or three loadouts. A survivability build, a skill build and a damage build cover a mode where you cannot predict the next encounter. See builds and gear sets.
  5. Clear stash space before launch so new drops do not overflow into the mail.
  6. Check your Ubisoft account security: two-step verification and an email you control.

If you would rather skip the grind, Division 2 accounts with Expertise 30 and raid exotics let you enter the park with builds already made.

What we still do not know

  • The exact unlock time on November 3.
  • The Ratel's weapon class and talent.
  • The name and bonuses of the new gear set.
  • The other four skill variants.

We will update this guide when Ubisoft publishes patch notes. For the wider schedule, including the Georgetown Dead Zone Classified Assignment and Year 9, see the Division 2 updates page or the Division 2 hub.
