No. GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version or a PC release date. Take-Two says PC matters more every year, but nothing it has said commits GTA 6 to PC on any timeline.

GTA 6 PC status at a glance
| Question | Answer as of 9 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Is GTA 6 coming to PC at launch? | No. Launch platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. |
| Is a PC version announced? | No. Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced one. |
| GTA 6 PC release date | None. No date, year or window has been given. |
| Console release date | 19 November 2026 (pre-load from 12 November) |
| Can I stream it to a PC via Xbox Cloud Gaming? | No. Xbox said on 7 October the game "will not be streaming exclusively or to PC." |
| Official PC requirements | None published |
If you see a "GTA 6 PC download", a Steam key or a "PC beta", it is fake. There is no PC build for sale anywhere, and any site asking you to install a launcher or pay for early access is a scam.
What Rockstar and Take-Two have actually said
Rockstar's own pre-order announcement on 24 June 2026 lists exactly two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation Store FAQ repeats it: the game "is released for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro on November 19, 2026." Neither mentions PC.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has been asked about PC several times this year. His answers explain the strategy without promising anything:
- May 2026, Bloomberg: "Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you're judged by serving the core."
- 17 September 2026, annual shareholder meeting: Take-Two aims "to launch for any platforms for which there's a meaningful audience," and "the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time."
- Same meeting: "We're launching GTA 6 as a single player experience on two major platforms."
Read together, the message is consistent. Console comes first by design, PC is a big and growing audience for Take-Two, and GTA 6 has not been scheduled for it yet.

The Xbox cloud streaming rumour
On 6 October The Verge reported that Microsoft had secured exclusive streaming rights to GTA 6, which many read as a back door onto PC. Xbox shut that down the next day.
Chief strategy officer Matthew Ball posted on X that "the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC." The Verge corrected its report. So cloud play on a Windows PC is off the table at launch too.
Precedent: how long Rockstar made PC players wait before
Rockstar has not said GTA 6 will follow its old pattern. Still, its history is the best guide we have, so here it is, labelled clearly as precedent and not as a forecast.
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA IV | 29 April 2008 | 2 December 2008 | About 7 months |
| GTA V | 17 September 2013 | 14 April 2015 | About 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 26 October 2018 | 5 November 2019 | About 12 months |
| Red Dead Redemption | May 2010 | 29 October 2024 | 14 years |
| GTA 6 | 19 November 2026 | Not announced | Unknown |
GTA V's PC version was itself delayed for extra polish after being announced alongside the PS4 and Xbox One editions. The 2025 "Enhanced" update finally brought the PC version up to the 2022 PS5 and Xbox Series standard.
If you apply the GTA V and RDR2 gaps to 19 November 2026, you land somewhere between late 2027 and mid 2028. That is arithmetic on old dates, not information from Rockstar. The first Red Dead Redemption shows the pattern can also break completely.
The biggest cost of waiting for PC is not the months. It is spoilers. A 25 minute leak full of story cutscenes surfaced on 8 October, six weeks before launch. A PC player who waits a year will be dodging the whole plot online for that year.
Why GTA 6 is console first
Zelnick's explanation is about audience: Rockstar serves its core console players first. A former Rockstar producer has also described the development side, saying that building for consoles lets the team "start with the constraints and then extend" to stronger hardware later.
There is a practical angle too. Console builds give Rockstar two fixed hardware targets (three counting PS5 Pro) to optimise and certify. A PC version has to handle thousands of hardware combinations, plus keyboard and mouse controls and much wider testing. For a game already delayed twice, a console-only launch keeps that work off the critical path.

What to do if you only have a PC
- Do not buy anything sold as "GTA 6 PC". No legitimate key or download exists.
- Decide if you want launch day or the PC version. If launch day matters, the Xbox Series S is the entry-level console on GTA 6's supported list. See our GTA 6 platforms and crossplay guide for how the consoles compare.
- Play GTA V Enhanced on PC in the meantime. GTA V's PC version received its Enhanced upgrade in March 2025, and GTA+ members on PC can access GTA Online through the GTA+ Games Library.
- Avoid spoilers. Mute "GTA 6 leak" and "Cyberleek" keywords on social platforms if you plan to wait.
- Watch two dates. Rockstar's Newswire for any PC announcement, and Take-Two's quarterly earnings calls, where platform plans usually surface first.

Frequently asked questions
Will GTA 6 be on PC?
Rockstar has not announced a PC version. Take-Two says PC is "becoming more and more important" to the company, and every previous mainline GTA reached PC eventually, but nothing official confirms GTA 6 will.
What is the GTA 6 PC release date?
There is none. The only confirmed date is 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Any PC date you see online is a guess or a rumour.
Can I play GTA 6 on PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming?
No. On 7 October 2026 Xbox's chief strategy officer said the game "will not be streaming exclusively or to PC."
Are there official GTA 6 PC system requirements?
No. Rockstar has published no PC requirements. Spec lists circulating online are invented.
Why didn't Rockstar release GTA 6 on PC at launch?
Take-Two says Rockstar "always starts on console" to serve its core players first. Rockstar followed the same order with GTA IV, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Will my console save transfer to a future PC version?
Unknown. Rockstar has announced no PC version and no cross-progression, so nothing about save transfer is confirmed.
