Where to pre-order GTA 6
PlayStation Store (PS5)
Search "Grand Theft Auto VI" on the PS5 or at store.playstation.com. Two products are listed: the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition. Both list the same four pre-order extras: the game, the Vintage Vice City Pack, one month of GTA+ and a 7-day pre-load. The Ultimate listing adds the Ultimate Edition Upgrade.
PS Store listings put the release at midnight local time: 00:00 on 19 November in the UK, and 05:00 UTC (midnight Eastern) on the US store. Rockstar itself has not announced a separate global unlock time.
Xbox (Microsoft Store)
The Xbox listing is identical in substance: $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, which bundles the game, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade and the Vintage Vice City Pack. The store's terms say to "purchase prior to 19 November 2026 23:59:59" to get the pack and the GTA+ month, and the GTA+ month must be redeemed within 180 days.
Rockstar Store
Rockstar sells the physical code-in-box version directly at store.rockstargames.com. Its page states that physical versions "will only contain a download code inside the box to support pre-load on November 12" and that the bonus pack applies while supplies last.
Retailers
GamesRadar's retailer tracker (updated August 2026) lists the Standard Edition at $79.99 or £69.99 at:
- US: Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, Target.
- UK: Amazon, Argos, Currys, John Lewis, Very, ShopTo, Smyths Toys, The Game Collection.
Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy in the US, and Amazon and Currys in the UK, were advertising 12 November delivery so you can pre-load. GameStop and Argos were quoting 19 November. Two North American stores, Video Games Plus and Loot Box Gaming, refuse to stock it at all because the box holds no disc.
Digital vs physical: which pre-order to choose
| Digital (PS Store / Xbox) | Physical (code in box) | |
|---|---|---|
| Editions | Standard or Ultimate | Standard only |
| Vintage Vice City Pack | Yes, before 20 November | Yes, while supplies last |
| Free month of GTA+ | Yes | No |
| Pre-load from 12 November | Yes, automatic | Yes, once the code arrives and is redeemed |
| Disc | No | No |
| Region lock | Tied to your account's store | PS5 codes only work in the region bought (per GamesRadar) |
The Ultimate Edition is not sold at retail. GamesRadar confirms it is "only available at PlayStation and Xbox's digital stores." If you buy a box and change your mind, the separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade is listed on Xbox at $20.00. The PS Store lists the same upgrade but, as of 9 October, does not show it as purchasable.
The usual argument for physical copies, resale and lending, does not apply here. The box holds a single-use code, so once it is redeemed it is worth nothing to anyone else. The only real reasons to buy a box are gifting, retailer discounts, or paying without a card on your console account.
Pre-order bonuses
Rockstar's announcement lists one bonus for every pre-order, plus one extra for digital buyers.
- Vintage Vice City Pack: a '55 Vapid Stanier with a Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach (with weapon locker and stash space), a pastel linen suit and haircut for Jason, a red sequin dress and curly hairstyle for Lucia, and a tropical weapon finish based on Tommy Vercetti's shirt.
- One month of GTA+: digital PS Store and Microsoft Store pre-orders only. On PS5 it must be redeemed by 31 March 2027, and it auto-renews at the regular price unless cancelled.
- Ultimate Edition content: not a pre-order bonus. It stays available after launch.
The pack is not strictly pre-order only. Any purchase before 20 November counts, so day-one buyers still qualify.
Pre-load: when and how
Pre-load opens on 12 November 2026, one week before launch. Digital pre-orders download automatically if auto-downloads are on. Boxed copies need the code redeemed first, which is why the delivery date matters.
Rockstar has not published a file size, and neither store listing shows one yet. Press estimates vary widely and none are official, so clear more space than you think you need before 12 November.
Cancelling and refunds, store by store
| Store | Can you cancel? | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Store (digital) | Paid more than 14 days before release: cancel any time before 19 November for a refund | No refund once you start downloading the main game, and pre-load counts |
| PlayStation Store (physical items) | Cancel before it enters shipping, about 8 days before release | Otherwise the 30-day return window applies |
| Microsoft Store (digital) | Cancel from order history before you are billed | Card payments may be charged up to 10 days before release. After that, cancellation becomes a refund request |
| Retailers | Per the retailer's own policy | A redeemed code cannot be returned |
Sony's policy is explicit: if you "have started to download or stream the main part of the pre-order, you will not be able to obtain a refund unless the item is faulty." With auto-download on, that happens on 12 November without you touching anything. If you are unsure, cancel before then or switch auto-downloads off.
What is still not announced
- PC version: none announced. As precedent only, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both reached PC well after console.
- File size: not published by Rockstar.
- Online mode: Rockstar has not detailed an online component for launch.
- Disc edition: none announced.
Our GTA 6 launch guide covers the setting and story, and the GTA 6 collector's edition guide covers the $399.99 Rockstar Store merch box, which does not include the game.
