World of Warcraft: Forever launches on 4 November 2026 on fresh realms. Every character starts at level one, every bank is empty, and for the first few months the gold in circulation is only what players have farmed themselves. That is what makes the launch economy different from anything on a mature server.
The bigger difference is the level cap. Blizzard has said 60 is permanent and content will be added horizontally instead of by raising it. On a normal WoW timeline, gold you bank is quietly devalued every expansion — new zones bring new quest rewards, new consumables and a new economy, and last expansion's fortune becomes pocket change. Forever has no such reset scheduled. Gold earned in November is meant to still be worth something in 2028.
What gold actually buys at level 60
Vanilla's money sinks are front-loaded and unforgiving, and Forever is built on vanilla's systems:
- Riding. The mount at 40 and the epic mount at 60 are the two purchases every character makes. In vanilla the second one ran to roughly a thousand gold, which on a fresh realm is weeks of farming.
- Professions. Levelling a crafting profession to max means buying materials you cannot gather fast enough yourself. Alchemy and blacksmithing in particular are bought, not farmed.
- Raid consumables. Vanilla raiding is a consumable tax — flasks, elixirs, potions, protections, food. A serious raider spends more gold per week on consumables than on anything else.
- Bags and bank space. Unglamorous and constant.
- Buying gear outright. Crafted pre-raid pieces and enchants are sold on the auction house, and on a young server they are expensive.
Why are the first months the expensive ones?
Because supply is thin and demand is at its peak. Everybody needs the same starting materials at the same time, nobody has a stockpile, and the people who do have gold are the ones who farmed through the night. Prices on a launch realm settle downward over the following months as the supply side catches up. If you want an epic mount in the first weeks rather than the first season, that gap is what you are paying to close.
How much will WoW Forever gold cost to buy?
Nobody can answer that honestly yet, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does. The game is not out, no realms exist, and gold has no market price until there is a realm to deliver it on. What can be said is how these markets behave: prices per thousand gold start high at launch, fall steadily through the first quarter as farming output rises, and separate sharply between realms — a high-population PvP realm and a quiet PvE one do not share an economy.
We will publish live prices on our WoW Forever gold page from launch day rather than guess now.
Does Blizzard sell gold in WoW Forever?
Blizzard has not announced a WoW Token or any first-party gold purchase for Forever. Classic Era has never had one. Until Blizzard says otherwise, assume the only gold on the realm is player-farmed.
Is buying gold against the rules?
Yes — buying gold breaches Blizzard's terms of service, and that is true on every version of WoW. The practical risk is not theoretical: account actions do happen, and the usual trigger is a delivery that looks nothing like a normal player trade. Large single transfers to a brand-new character, mail from an account with no history, and repeated identical amounts are the patterns that get noticed. Anyone telling you the risk is zero is selling something.
How is gold delivered safely?
The two methods are face-to-face trade and in-game mail. Face-to-face is slower and safer: both characters stand in a normal place, the trade looks like any other, and nothing sits in a mailbox. Mail is convenient and leaves a record. Splitting a large amount across several deliveries rather than one lump is the single biggest thing that makes a delivery look ordinary.
Two details matter before any of that. Gold is delivered on your realm and your faction — Alliance gold cannot reach a Horde character, and realms do not share an economy. Get those wrong and the order cannot be filled.
Is it better to buy gold or an account?
They solve different problems. Gold gets an existing character geared and mounted; an account skips the levelling entirely. On a launch realm, levelling is the part that takes weeks, so a levelled character is worth more in the first months than at any other point in the game's life — which is also when it is hardest to verify a seller, since nobody on the realm has a trading history yet. If you are buying an account rather than gold, read what to look for first.
What we will offer from launch
Gold on your realm and faction, levelling to 60, professions, attunements and reputation grinds. Everything hand-delivered, with a support ticket per order rather than a bot. Dates, editions and everything else Blizzard has confirmed are on our WoW Forever hub, and the full launch timeline is in the release date guide.
