Why a pre-order is the most expensive way to buy
Every bank starts empty on 4 November. For the first weeks the only gold in circulation is what players farm themselves, while everybody needs the same things at once — that is when prices peak. As characters reach 60 and farming output catches up, the whole market re-prices downward. A pre-order locks in the peak.
The level cap is 60 and no increase is on Blizzard's roadmap, so there is no expansion scheduled to devalue banked gold the way retail does. Gold earned at launch is meant to keep its value; it simply costs most in week one.
