WoW Forever tier list

Our ranking of every class and spec by role, built from Blizzard’s class changes and the beta client, before live combat logs existed. Each pick says why, and how sure we are.

Built from beta data — it will change

WoW Forever launched on 4 November 2026 and raids open on 9 December. This ranking was made from the final beta build, before live combat logs existed, and live tuning may differ. The launch client also changed some Warrior, Rogue and Shaman talents: see the patch notes. We will re-rank once live realms and the first raids give real data.

Method

How we rank

  • Only what changed is new evidence. We start from how each spec performed in Classic and move it up or down for the changes in Blizzard’s Class Deep Dives, the beta development notes and our beta-client diff.
  • Launch content decides. Dungeons and the 10- and 20-player raids come first, so self-sufficiency and utility count for more than 40-player stacking.
  • Personal debuffs matter. Ignite, Improved Scorch, Winter’s Chill, Shadow Weaving and Improved Shadow Bolt now help only the player who applies them, which lowers specs whose value used to be a raid buff.
  • Confidence is shown. “Low” means the beta changed the spec recently enough that its place may still move.
  • No damage numbers. Some spell values in the client are internal, so we rank on design, not on simulated DPS.

Dungeons and the 10/20-player raids

Tank tier list

Forever fixed the thing that made Classic tanking a gear check — rage income. That lifts the Warrior furthest, but it also left room for a real Paladin and a Bear that finally uses its weapon.

Most wanted role at launch

Healer tier list

Every healer got a modern tool — Riptide, Prayer of Mending, Wild Growth, Penance. The ranking comes down to group healing on short cooldowns and mana over a long fight.

Damage up close

Melee DPS tier list

Weapon specialisations were folded into single talents for Warriors and Rogues, and Druids and Shamans got melee kits that scale. The Warrior still leads, by less than in Classic.

Casters and Hunters

Ranged DPS tier list

Forever made several raid debuffs personal — Ignite, Improved Scorch, Winter’s Chill, Shadow Weaving, Improved Shadow Bolt. Stacking five of one class no longer multiplies, so specs that are strong on their own rise.

Speed and safety alone

Levelling (solo, 1–60) tier list

Ranked on what matters solo: downtime, kill speed, and how often a bad pull ends in a corpse run. Blizzard’s own changes tell you who it wanted to help — and who it slowed down.

Choosing

Which class should I pick?

You want groups fast

Play a healer or a tank. Restoration Shaman, Holy Priest or Protection Warrior will never wait long for a dungeon, and the 10-player raids need two of each.

You mostly play alone

Hunter or Warlock. Both level safely with little downtime and stay useful in raids — Marksmanship and Destruction both sit in our top two tiers.

You want one character for everything

Druid. It tanks, heals and does damage, and Forever fixed the weapon scaling and consumables that held Feral back.

You are new to WoW

Hunter or Paladin. Hunter is forgiving solo; Paladin now has Holy Strike from level 6 and Seals that stay up, so the early game is no longer one button.

You want top damage in raids

Fury Warrior, Fire Mage or Destruction Warlock — but expect slower levelling as a Warrior, and check the list again after launch.

You care about the race too

Forever adds combos like Orc Mage, Undead Paladin and Dwarf Shaman. See every race–class pair before you commit to a faction.

Picking a slow leveller for its raid spot?

Warriors and Rogues rank high in groups and low solo. If the climb to 60 is the obstacle, compare levelling and gold prices.

Answers

Tier list FAQ

What is the best class in WoW Forever?

In our October 2026 ranking, Warrior has the strongest case: Protection is our top tank and Fury our top melee DPS, both because rage income was rebuilt. For solo levelling, Hunter and Warlock are the easiest. The list is built from final beta data and will be revised once live realms and raids produce real data.

What is the best healer in WoW Forever?

Restoration Shaman and Holy Priest share our top tier. Riptide plus Chain Heal and cheaper totem upkeep lift the Shaman; Prayer of Mending, Binding Heal and Fear Ward for every Priest lift Holy. Restoration Druid and Holy Paladin are close behind.

What is the fastest class to level from 1 to 60 in WoW Forever?

Hunter and Warlock, in our ranking: both kill safely with little downtime, and Forever made traps work in combat and Warlock pets scale with gear. Mage is weaker than in Classic because Blizzard cut Cone of Cold and Improved Blizzard to stop AoE farming.

Can Alliance play Shaman and Horde play Paladin in WoW Forever?

Yes. Forever adds new race–class combinations including Dwarf Shaman and Undead Paladin, so faction no longer decides which hybrid you can bring. The full table is on our race and class combinations page.

How was this tier list made?

From Blizzard’s Class Deep Dives, the beta development notes and our own comparison of the beta client with Classic Era, plus general Classic experience. Each entry has a reason and a confidence level. It is our ranking, not a copy of another site’s, and no live raid logs exist yet.

When will the tier list be updated?

After launch on 4 November 2026, once real dungeon and levelling data exists, and again after the first raids open on 9 December 2026. All nine classes now have a Blizzard class deep dive (Paladin was last, on 15 October).

Levelling 1–60 takes about 150 hours of play by community estimates, and Blizzard has announced no WoW Token and no paid boost for Forever.
