Mage in WoW Forever
No class deep dive yet — but the beta notes already show Combustion charges, a renamed Hot Streak and a new “scrolls” system.
No class deep dive yet
Blizzard has published full class overviews for Priest, Warrior, Hunter, Druid, Paladin. Mage has not had one, and Blizzard says every class will be covered. Until then, the only official Mage changes are the tuning lines in the beta development notes — listed below with their dates. They show what exists in the beta client, not the whole class.
What applies to every class: talent trees keep their rows, with milestone talents at 11, 16 (new), 21 and 31 points; key buff talents become baseline; hit and crit are merged across spell, melee and ranged.
Mage changes in the beta notes
From Blizzard’s beta development notes (blue posts, 24 September and 1 October 2026). Beta values change before launch.
ChangedMage scrollsbeta notes 01.10All Mage scrolls “from comprehension” had a balance pass and can no longer be cast while moving. The notes also mention a Research ability Mages can learn — Blizzard has not explained the system yet.
ChangedArcane Missilesbeta notes 24.09Checks line of sight once at the start of the channel instead of on every missile.
ChangedCombustionFirebeta notes 01.10Back to 3 charges (was 4).
ChangedHeating Up (was Hot Streak)Firebeta notes 01.10Renamed because it no longer depends on a streak. On 24 September its buff was extended to 20 seconds (was 15).
ChangedWake of FireFirebeta notes 24.09Buff lasts 30 seconds (was 20) because Mages drink between pulls while levelling.
ChangedIgniteFirebeta notes 24.09No longer double-dips on percentage damage modifiers.
ChangedImproved ScorchFirebeta notes 01.10Fire Vulnerability no longer rolls a second resist check.
ChangedWinter’s ChillFrostbeta notes 01.10No separate resist roll, since the triggering spell already had to hit.

Levelling

Levelling a Mage to 60
About 150 hours of play for a first character by community estimates, and Blizzard has announced no WoW Token or paid boost for Forever. If the Mage changes above are why you are rolling one, this is what skipping the climb costs on the pre-order market.
Market prices: pre-order listings on lfcarry.com, wowvendor.com, skycoach.gg, kingboost.net and others, checked 2 October 2026. Our own rates go up when realms open — no one can deliver Forever gold before 4 November.
