Classes · launch client 1.60.1.70707
Weapon skills by class
Rogues can use one-handed axes in WoW Forever. That is the only weapon any class gained compared with Classic Era; everything else is unchanged. The table is read from the launch client, not from patch notes.

Rogue
What axes change for Rogues
Combat Rogues now have three weapon families to choose from: Swords, Maces and Axes, plus Daggers and Fist Weapons. The Combat talent Hack and Slash gives each family its own bonus, and it lists Axe and Sword together, so an axe is a full alternative to a sword rather than a stat stick.
See the exact talent text in the Rogue talent calculator, and the Rogue class page for the rest of the class changes.

Weapon skills FAQ
Can Rogues use axes in WoW Forever?
Yes. The WoW Forever client (build 1.60.1.70707) lists one-handed Axes as a Rogue weapon skill, which Classic Era does not. Two-handed axes are still not available to Rogues. The Combat talent Hack and Slash gives Axes and Swords a chance-on-hit bonus.
Did any other class get new weapons in WoW Forever?
No. Comparing the Forever launch client with Classic Era, Rogue Axes is the only weapon a class gained. Every other class uses the same weapon types as in Classic.
Can Shamans use two-handed weapons in WoW Forever?
Yes, two-handed axes and maces, but only with the Enhancement talent Two-Handed Axes and Maces, as in Classic.
Do weapon racials still exist in WoW Forever?
No. Blizzard removed the sword, mace and axe specialisation racials during the beta, so your race no longer decides your weapon.
Where do I learn a weapon skill?
From a weapon master in a capital city, as in Classic. Some skills are known from character creation depending on race and class.
