WoW: Forever has a Looking for Group listing tool, not an automatic Dungeon Finder. In the beta, you must now pick one of four Playstyles (Learning, Relaxed, Competitive or Carry Offered) before you can list or search for a dungeon group. After that, you still travel to the dungeon yourself, because meeting stones do not summon.
How group finding works in WoW: Forever
Forever uses a Classic-style LFG tool. You post a listing for a dungeon, or browse listings other players created, and then talk to people to form the party. Nothing assembles a group for you.
Warcraft Tavern, reporting from the BlizzCon demo, describes the same split: an LFG interface exists, but there is no automatic Dungeon Finder and no Raid Finder. The tool helps you organize a group and stops there.
Players on the beta forums describe the flow in practice. You list a group, applicants contact you, and you sort out roles yourself. One feedback thread from September 26, 2026 called it a mix of trade chat and group finder and asked for better role filtering. That is player feedback, not an official description.
The new Playstyle requirement
In early October 2026, beta players noticed a new Playstyle field in the LFG panel, and Wowhead reported it on October 7. You cannot queue to look for a dungeon group until you choose one of four options.
| Playstyle | What it signals (our reading) | Good fit for |
|---|---|---|
| Learning | Slower run, explanations welcome, mistakes expected | First runs of a new dungeon, new players, alts learning a role |
| Relaxed | Casual pace, no pressure on speed | Quest runs, social groups, evening play |
| Competitive | Fast, efficient clears from players who know the route | Repeat runs for gear or XP; possibly raid slots later |
| Carry Offered | A higher-level player offers to take others through | Low-level players who need a run done |
Blizzard has not published official definitions for these labels, so the middle column is our interpretation. Wowhead noted that Competitive makes less sense for dungeons today, since Forever has no timed dungeon mode, and may fit raid groups better later.
A note on Carry Offered
Wowhead pointed out that carries are often paid, which could raise Terms of Service questions. Blizzard has not explained how it will treat this category. Separately, GDKP raids are not allowed in Forever; our GDKP ban and gold buyer bans article covers those rules.
There is also an XP rule to know before you join a carry. Per the October 8 beta notes, if a party member is vastly higher level than the enemy being killed, no one in the party gets XP. A carry can still help with quests and loot, but it may give no kill XP.
Step by step: finding a dungeon group
- Check the level range. Pick a dungeon that fits your level. The table below lists Blizzard's ranges for the nine new dungeons.
- Open the LFG panel and choose a Playstyle. Match it to how you want the run to go, not to what fills fastest.
- List or browse. Create a listing if you are tank or healer and want to lead. Browse if you are a damage dealer and want to join.
- Confirm roles in a whisper. The tool does not match roles for you, so ask what spec each player is running.
- Travel to the entrance. Meeting stones do not summon. A Warlock with Ritual of Summoning can help if two party members are already there.
New dungeon level ranges
Blizzard published these ranges in a forum post on September 15, 2026. The development notes updated October 1 list Excavation Site: Wetlands at 26-31 instead, so we use the newer value.
| Dungeon | Level range |
|---|---|
| The Hall of Thanes | 13-18 |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15-20 |
| Excavation Site: Wetlands | 26-31 (earlier listed 24-29) |
| City of Dalaran | 28-33 |
| The Drowned City | 35-40 |
| Krol'dok Stronghold | 40-45 |
| Alcaz Prison | 48-53 |
| Blackmaw Hold | 55-60 |
| Shaper's Terrace | 58-60 |
The full list, including classic dungeons, is on our Forever dungeons page. For the dungeon open on the beta right now, see the City of Dalaran guide.
Who you can group with
Forever replaces realm choice with rulesets: Normal, PvP and Roleplaying at launch, with Hardcore later. Blizzard says grouping across rulesets is not supported, and Horde and Alliance still cannot group.
That makes your ruleset choice a social decision as much as a PvP one. Our servers and launch page explains the rulesets.
Why Blizzard kept it manual
In an interview reported by TechRadar, the Forever team said fast teleports shrink the world and can erode its design pillars, naming summoning stones as one such convenience. Two pillars come up most often: the world as the main character, and protecting social experiences.
The same thinking appears in the beta dungeon XP changes. Blizzard wants dungeons worth repeating but not the only efficient way to level.
Tips for faster groups at launch
- Tanks and healers fill fastest. If you play a hybrid, a group spec gets you into runs sooner.
- Write the quest goals in your listing note, for example which quests you still need.
- Use Learning for brand new dungeons in the first weeks. Most players will not know the routes yet.
- Say in the listing whether the run is for quests, gear or XP, so the Playstyle and goal match.
If finding groups at every step sounds slow, our leveling time and price overview compares the time involved.
Frequently asked questions
Does WoW: Forever have a Dungeon Finder?
No automatic one. There is a Looking for Group listing tool where you post or browse groups, but it does not form the party or teleport you.
Do I have to pick a Playstyle to use LFG?
On the beta, yes. Since early October 2026, the panel requires one of four Playstyles before you can queue for dungeon groups.
Can meeting stones summon party members?
No. Blizzard has said summoning stones are not part of Forever. Warlocks can still summon with Ritual of Summoning.
Can I group with friends on another ruleset or faction?
No. Blizzard says cross-ruleset grouping is not supported, and the two factions remain separate.
