Beta testers have found a hidden boss, Lyn the Ignored, in the sewers of the new City of Dalaran dungeon in WoW: Forever. He only appears if your group brings the Tome of Dalaran, an item that starts as a Black Tome in Shadowfang Keep. The discovery was reported on October 9 to 11, 2026, a few days after the dungeon opened on the beta.
How the secret was found
The trail started before City of Dalaran was even playable. Players noticed a new clickable book on Archmage Arugal's table in Shadowfang Keep. Clicking it after the fight gave a Black Tome, and taking that to Ambermill in Silverpine Forest turned it into the Tome of Dalaran. Then the clue went cold.
Once Blizzard opened City of Dalaran in the beta build of October 8, 2026, testers took the tome into a sewer room that looked like a dead end. Using it there summoned the boss. Warcraft Tavern covered the solution on October 9 and Wowhead published a step guide on October 11.

Shadowfang Keep is a much lower level dungeon than City of Dalaran, so a level 28 or higher character can pick up the tome on the way. Ambermill is a short ride from the Shadowfang Keep entrance. Plan the detour before you head to Alterac Mountains.
Wowhead notes the intro scene includes a nod to Ragnaros, the Molten Core boss famous for complaining about being summoned too early.
What Lyn drops
Blizzard has not published loot for Lyn. Method.gg's beta guide lists a main hand dagger, Tendonscraper Dagger, as his notable drop. Treat that as beta data: loot tables are still being tuned, and Blizzard said every dungeon table in Forever was reviewed and expanded. Why it matters
Secret encounters tied to items from other dungeons are a new kind of discovery for Forever's leveling range. They reward groups that explore rather than run the shortest path, which matches what designer Jay Hartman said on the official podcast about not adding dungeon maps. Frequently asked questions
Is Lyn the Ignored a rare spawn?
No. On the beta he appears only when someone uses the Tome of Dalaran at the purple rune.
Do I lose the Tome of Dalaran when I use it?
No. The tome is not consumed and has a 3-minute cooldown, so you can try again after a wipe.
Can Horde players summon Lyn?
Nothing in beta reports limits the tome by faction. Horde players need the Dalaran attunement chain to enter the dungeon first.
