The Skyborne are the new playable race in WoW Forever: winged elves who start on Zephras Isle, a floating island, and level there from 1 to 12 before reaching Azeroth proper. They are not included with a subscription — playing one requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack at $29.99 or higher.

The split at the end is the interesting part: the faction you choose at creation decides whether your Skyborne can be a Mage or a Shaman. It is the same race on both sides with a different sixth class.

Walk on Air is the one that will define how the race feels. A 10-second glide is a movement tool no Classic race has ever had, and on a world built before flying existed it changes which terrain is passable.
Zephras Isle
Skyborne begin on Zephras Isle, one of the new zones, and level there from 1 to 12. A race-specific starting experience on a floating island is a departure from Classic, where new races shared the same handful of starting areas.
Druid forms
Skyborne Druids have shapeshift forms made specifically for the race. Bear, Cat, Travel and Moonkin forms were all shown at BlizzCon 2026.
That matters more than it sounds: unique forms are expensive to produce, and giving them to a launch race signals the Skyborne are meant to be played rather than added as a box-tick.
