Buying a Deadlock account
A Deadlock account is a Steam account. What decides whether it is a good buy is the Steam account itself (email, bans, the $5 limit) and the Ranked side (wins, unlocked heroes, the real badge). Eight checks, each from Valve’s own pages.
Checklist
Eight things to check
- 1
It is a whole Steam account
Deadlock has no price on Steam and no release date; Valve limits access to friend invites from current players. A Deadlock account is therefore a Steam account that already has the game. Everything else on that Steam account (other games, inventory, wallet, bans) comes with it.
- 2
Native email and Steam Guard
The safest account comes with the original (native) email, so you can change the contact email, password and Steam Guard yourself. Changing the email from the Steam client asks for the password and a confirmation link; changing it in a browser needs the linked phone. Move Steam Guard to your own Steam Mobile Authenticator, which Valve calls the best level of account security.

- 3
VAC and game bans
Open the account’s Steam profile. Valve says VAC bans are permanent, cannot be removed by Support and stay on the account no matter who was playing. A game ban is set by a game’s developer and only permanent ones show on the profile. A ban is issued for a particular game, but it stays on the profile where anyone can see it.
- 4
The $5 limit
A Steam account that has never spent at least $5 USD in the Steam store is a limited account: no friend requests (quick invite still works), no Market or trading, and other restrictions. Received gifts, retail keys and free games do not count. Listings that say "$5 limit removed" mean this spend was made.
- 5
Ranked access and heroes
Ranked needs 60 wins in Standard mode, and you can only bring heroes you have won 15 Standard games with (at least 3). Check which heroes are unlocked for Ranked: those are the heroes you can play there from day one.
- 6
Badge and rank history
A badge in a title can be from before the July 2026 ranked reset or from an earlier part of the season. Ask for a screenshot of the Ranked Hub, which shows the current rank and your rank history. The first season ends on 5 November 2026 and the next one starts with 8 calibration games and a soft reset.

- 7
No sanctions
Any active sanction, such as low priority games or a comms ban, blocks the Ranked queue. Ask whether the account has one. Valve’s leaver penalties start with queue timeouts and escalate to low priority games.
- 8
Trade and Market holds
Only matters if you plan to trade items on the account. A new device, a password reset or a new authenticator can put trades on hold for days; Steam Support cannot lift those holds.
Section 1.C of the Steam Subscriber Agreement makes a Steam account personal: it may not be sold, rented out or transferred, and Valve can restrict or close an account that breaks the agreement, without refunding the wallet. No seller can remove that risk. What a seller can remove is the previous owner coming back: a native email, a fresh password and your own Steam Guard, plus a warranty if they try.

Buying FAQ
Can you buy Deadlock on Steam?
No. On 15 October 2026 Deadlock has no price on Steam and its release date reads "To be announced". Valve gives access through friend invites from people who already play.
Is buying a Deadlock account against the rules?
Yes. The Steam Subscriber Agreement says your account is personal and that you may not sell it, charge others to use it or transfer it, and Valve may restrict or close accounts that break the agreement. That risk comes with any bought Steam account.
What does "native mail" mean in a listing?
The account comes with the email address it was registered with, so you control recovery. Without it, the original owner may be able to take the account back through Steam Support.
Does METAMMO cover bans?
No. Our accounts are checked by hand and carry a lifetime warranty against recovery by a previous owner (refund or replacement). Bans by Valve are not covered.
