11 ranks from Initiate to Eternus, six subranks each. The badges come from the game files and the rules from Valve’s Matchmaking Update of 30 July 2026, which split the game into Standard and Ranked.

Official rules
How Ranked works
Who can play Ranked
At least 60 wins in Standard mode, and at least 3 heroes unlocked for Ranked. A hero is unlocked once you have won 15 Standard games with it. Any active sanction, such as low priority or a comms ban, blocks the Ranked queue.
Calibration
Each season starts with 8 calibration games and a soft reset that keeps part of your previous history. The highest badge you can leave calibration with is Oracle VI, and you cannot party during calibration.
Rank Points
A win or loss moves you about 250 points on average. Each subrank takes 1,000 points; the last step into a new rank (for example Mystic VI to Ritualist I) takes 2,000. From Eternus I the thresholds are set daily by percentile instead.
Loss protection
At the bottom of a rank you keep the badge for 5 losses before dropping; at the bottom of a subrank, for 2 losses.
Solo and duo only
Ranked allows solo or duo queues. A duo must be at most one rank apart; Eternus players can only duo with another Eternus within 3 subranks.
Heroes and bans
You queue with the heroes you want, and the matchmaker builds the teams. A pre-game area lets each player swap hero once. Ranked bans 3 heroes per game instead of 2.
Seasons and history
At the end of a season your highest rank is saved permanently in your rank history, and you get a hideout item for it. Valve expects later seasons to be longer, with splits in between.

Standard mode has no party or skill spread limits, and its matchmaker also takes your experience on the chosen hero into account. Valve does not publish how its hidden rating works beyond that.

Median asking price by the badge stated in the listing title, over 90 days. The Deadlock market is small, so read these as rough figures. Many Eternus listings from early August quote a badge from before the ranked reset, which keeps that median low. Data

A badge in a listing can be from an earlier season or from before the reset. Ask for a screenshot of the Ranked Hub with the rank history, and check how many heroes are unlocked for Ranked: a new owner needs 15 Standard wins on any other hero first. More in the buying guide.

What are the ranks in Deadlock?
Initiate, Seeker, Acolyte, Sentinel, Mystic, Ritualist, Emissary, Oracle, Phantom, Ascendant, Eternus. Each has six subranks, I to VI. Players who have not calibrated show as Obscurus.
How do you unlock Ranked in Deadlock?
Win 60 games in Standard mode, and win 15 Standard games on each hero you want to use in Ranked; you need at least 3 such heroes.
When does the Deadlock Ranked season end?
The first season started on 30 July 2026. Valve first set the end for 7 October, then moved it to 5 November 2026 at 2 pm PDT; the next season starts straight after.
What is the highest rank in Deadlock?
Eternus. Above Eternus I there are no fixed point thresholds: the subranks are set every day by percentile.
What were Archon, Arcanist and Alchemist?
Badge names you still see in some account listings from before the ranked update of 30 July 2026. They are not part of the current ladder, so ask the seller for the current badge and the rank history.
