Is it better to buy an Apex account or grind for heirlooms?

One heirloom set needs 150 Heirloom Shards, which drop at 0.045% per Apex Pack and are guaranteed only by the 500th eligible pack, while levelling from 1 to 500 gives 199 packs. Partnership Mythics, Predator badges from past seasons and retired skins cannot be earned at all now. Progress cannot be merged between EA Accounts, so buying makes sense when you want what a long-played account holds.

Is it worth buying an Apex account?

If you want heirlooms, old badges or items that are gone, yes: they cannot be moved between accounts, and earning them takes years or is no longer possible. If you only want legends unlocked, levelling does that for free.

What is the least expensive way to get an heirloom yourself?

Play: level-up and Battle Pass packs count toward the 500-pack guarantee, and some events have given 150 shards as a reward. Buying packs is the expensive way, and you cannot choose the heirloom until the shards arrive.

What do I lose by buying instead of playing?

Your own progress stays on your own EA Account; a bought account is a separate EA Account and progress cannot be merged. Decide which one you will play.
