The ranked tiers

Gold	IV–I	Above-average ranked player.
Platinum	IV–I	Experienced players; Masters and Predators are reset here at the split.
Diamond	IV–I	A few percent of ranked players; a hard wall for many.
Master	none	From 16,000 RP; an open-ended tier with a hidden ladder position.
Apex Predator	none	The top 750 Master players on each platform at a given moment.

Each match costs an entry fee in RP that rises with the tier; placement and kills earn it back. Each season has two splits; at the split, Master and Predator players drop to Platinum. Ranked unlocks at account level 20 from Season 31.

Apex Legends Status estimates the Master count from the highest ladder position it sees, so it is likely an undercount. On Switch fewer than 750 players are in Master, so the cutoff sits at the Master floor of 16,000 RP. EA no longer publishes rank distribution.

How hard is each rank?

Gold and Platinum: reachable with steady play; many players stop around here.
Diamond: a few percent of ranked players. Entry costs jump, and EA itself calls Diamond the wall many players hit.
Master: 16,000 RP. On PC that was about 17,382 players on 27 October 2026.
Apex Predator: the top 750 of those on each platform, defended every day until the split ends. A Predator badge from an early season is proof that cannot be bought in game.

What is Apex Predator in Apex Legends?

Apex Predator is the top ranked tier: the 750 Master players with the most RP on each platform. On 27 October 2026 the cutoff was 37,104 RP on PC and 27,043 on PlayStation, out of about 17,382 Master and Predator players on PC (Apex Legends Status). Finishing a split as a Predator earns that season’s Predator badge, which stays on the account.

What is an Apex Predator?

The highest ranked tier in Apex Legends: the 750 Master players with the most RP on each platform (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch) at a given moment. You can drop out of it at any time; finishing a split or season inside it earns the Predator badge for that season.

How many RP do you need for Predator?

It moves every hour. On 27 October 2026 the 750th place was at 37,104 RP on PC, 27,043 RP on PlayStation, 19,527 RP on Xbox, 16,000 RP on Switch, according to Apex Legends Status.

How hard is it to reach Master?

Master starts at 16,000 RP and has no cap. On 27 October 2026 Apex Legends Status counted about 17,382 Master and Predator players on PC, so Predator is roughly the top 4% of that group there; Diamond already holds only a few percent of ranked players.

What changes in ranked in Season 31 and 32?

Season 31 (November 2026) adds Legend Bans in Diamond+ matches, Challenger and Goliath entry costs in wide-skill lobbies, and ranked access back to account level 20. Season 32 (early 2027) replaces Rookie with Iron, adds Emerald and a Grandmaster tier on top, splits ranked into an Open and a Pro-Am league, gives Masters four divisions, and makes the Predator badge the top 750 of Grandmaster.

Does a Predator badge stay on the account?

Yes. Ranked badges are tied to the season they were earned in and stay on the account; they cannot be earned later, which is why old Predator badges are what collectors look at.
