Common problems and what to do
The game will not start after maintenance
Restart the Nexon Launcher or Steam so it downloads the latest client. Nexon asks for this after every Classic World maintenance.

Classic World is missing in the Nexon Launcher
Find MapleStory in your library and switch the MapleStory Classic World toggle, then download the standalone client.

Steam asks for a long download or does not show Classic World
On Steam, Classic World is bundled with MapleStory: the base game must be fully installed and updated, and your Nexon account linked to Steam (easiest from Nexon’s website, Account Settings).

It closes when MapleStory is open
Only one game can be open at a time, MapleStory or Classic World.
Login fails and the client closes
Since 15 October the client shows the reason for a launcher login failure instead of closing; read the message, then check your Nexon account on the website.
Cannot reach some channels
An 8 October fix solved players being unable to join Channels 1–4. If one channel fails, try another; Windia has 40.

Cannot trade, drop KPQ coupons or open a shop
New accounts have a trade restriction until 24 hours after a character on the account reaches level 15. A 22 October fix let new accounts drop KPQ coupons and passes.

Cannot use a Megaphone
Megaphones need level 15 since the Grand Launch and accept English text only.

Controller does nothing
Turn on Controller Support in Game Options (off by default). DualSense, DualShock and Xbox controllers are supported, over USB or Bluetooth.

Wrong language
Change it on the login screen or in Game Options, then relaunch. English is official; Spanish and Korean are beta, and the UI stays in English.

Random disconnects or crashes
Check your connection, then repair the install: “Verify integrity of game files” in Steam (Properties → Installed Files) or the repair option in the Nexon Launcher. Nexon fixed many disconnects on 15 October, so stay on the latest client.
If none of these help, contact Nexon Player Support with the exact message you see.

- Server optimizations after more players than expected joined at launch.
- Fixed: Signature Eye Color Coupon missing green; Kerning PQ coupons and passes could not be dropped by new accounts.
21 October 2026Grand Launch, v1.0.0
- Free for everyone from 11:00 a.m. PDT after a 5-hour maintenance.
- Windia expanded to 40 channels; Free Market Rooms 12–20; Kerning PQ on Channels 3–12.
- The Murky Swamp II added near Kerning City; new Victoria Island quests and drops; more potion drops from monsters level 10–30; field boss respawns more random.

15 October 2026Minor patch (3 hours)
- Korean (Beta) display language.
- Chat limited to English, Spanish and Korean characters; Megaphones English only.

- Fixed some players not reaching Channels 1–4.
- Cleric Heal fixes.
- Coconut NPC sell price cut from 145 to 10 mesos.

Is MapleStory Classic down right now?
Check Nexon’s MapleStory news page (Maintenance) and the #classic-world-announcements channel on the official MapleStory Discord: Nexon posts every Classic World maintenance there with start and end times. After any maintenance, restart the Nexon Launcher or Steam so the client updates.
When is the next MapleStory Classic maintenance?
Nexon announces each one on its news page under Maintenance, usually with PDT, EDT, CEST and AEDT times. Since launch there were maintenances on 8, 15, 21 and 22 October 2026.
Why does MapleStory Classic say a new client is needed?
Each maintenance ships a client update. Restart the Nexon Launcher or Steam to download it.
Do I get anything for maintenance downtime?
Nexon has extended Cash Shop items in inventories after each maintenance, for example by 5 hours after the Grand Launch maintenance.
Why can’t I enter Kerning PQ on my channel?
Kerning PQ runs only on Channels 3 to 12.
