Classic World beginner guide
From download to 2nd job. The steps every new Classic World player goes through, with the systems that open on the way.

How to start
1.Install the game
Nexon Launcher: log in, find MapleStory in your library, select the MapleStory Classic World toggle and download the client. Steam: install and update MapleStory, then link your Nexon account (Nexon website → Account Settings).

2.Create a character
Up to 3 characters per account, with names separate from modern MapleStory. Choose Classic or Modern (WASD) keys; turn on Controller Support in Game Options if you use a pad.
3.Maple Island (levels 1–8)
You start as a Beginner. Talk to every NPC and do the quests; they are faster than grinding. The boat to Lith Harbor on Victoria Island is one-way.

4.Choose a 1st job (level 10)
Warrior in Perion, Magician in Ellinia, Bowman in Henesys, Thief in Kerning City. Put AP into the main stat of that job from the start.
5.Levels 10–30
Crafting opens at 10 and Citizenship at 12 (Henesys or Kerning City: discounts and a house later). The Journey Begins check-in event gives potions, a pet and Safety Charms until 18 November. Kerning PQ from 21.
6.2nd job (level 30)
Back to your job NPC to pick one of the ten 2nd jobs. Keep a free slot in the Use inventory for the quest item.

Good to know
Tips for new players
- Trading opens 24 hours after a character on your account reaches level 15; Megaphones need level 15.
- Dying outside towns costs EXP; Safety Charms prevent it.
- Windia has 40 channels: if a map is crowded, change channel.
- Only NX is shared with modern MapleStory, so start fresh: no mesos or items carry over.
- Only one game can be open at a time, MapleStory or Classic World.

How do I start playing MapleStory Classic World?
Log in to the Nexon Launcher, find MapleStory and switch the Classic World toggle to download the standalone client, or install MapleStory on Steam and link your Nexon account. Create a Beginner on Windia, finish the Maple Island quests, and take your 1st job at level 10 in Perion, Ellinia, Henesys or Kerning City.
What is the best class for beginners in MapleStory Classic?
Fighter, Cleric and Ice/Lightning Wizard are the usual easy picks: henesys.gg rates them low difficulty, and Cleric is always welcome in parties.
Do I need modern MapleStory to play Classic World?
Not on the Nexon Launcher, which installs a standalone client. On Steam yes, because the two are bundled.
Is there a tutorial?
Maple Island is the tutorial: your first monsters, quests and the basics before you sail to Victoria Island.
Should I buy anything in the Cash Shop?
Nothing is required. Nexon says it avoids selling items that raise stats; the Cash Shop sells cosmetics and convenience items such as pets with auto-potion, Store Permits and Safety Charms.
