Is MapleStory Classic World free to play?

Yes, since the Grand Launch on 21 October 2026. It has a Cash Shop and no subscription.

When did MapleStory Classic World launch?

Founder’s Access on 6 October 2026 and the free Grand Launch on 21 October 2026, both at 11:00 a.m. PDT (18:00 UTC).

Is MapleStory Classic on Steam?

Yes, through the MapleStory listing: install MapleStory, link your Nexon account and choose Classic World.

Can I play MapleStory Classic on Mac?

Yes, on macOS through the Nexon Launcher or Steam.

Is MapleStory Classic on mobile or console?

No. It is a PC and Mac game; Xbox and PlayStation controllers can be used on PC and Mac.

Do I need to install modern MapleStory?

On the Nexon Launcher no: Classic World has a standalone client. On Steam yes: the games are bundled.

Can I play MapleStory and Classic World at the same time?

No, only one of them can be open at a time.

Which languages are supported?

English, plus Spanish and Korean in beta. Class names, Cash items and the UI stay in English.

What world is MapleStory Classic on?

Windia, expanded to 40 channels on 21 October 2026.

Do I need a new account?

No, your Nexon account works. You create new characters for Classic World.

How many characters can I make?

Up to 3 per account. A deleted character goes through a waiting period first.

Are names shared with MapleStory?

No, in-game names are separate.

What is shared between MapleStory and Classic World?

Only the NX balance. Maple Points and MVP benefits do not apply in Classic World.

Why can’t I trade?

New accounts can trade 24 hours after a character on the account reaches level 15.

Can I transfer from Challenger World?

No.

What is the level cap?

Level 100.

Which classes are in MapleStory Classic?

Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief, with ten 2nd jobs.

Are there Pirates?

No, and Nexon has not announced them.

Is there 3rd job?

Not yet. Nexon announced a 3rd job test server for early 2027 at MapleStory Fest, without a release date.

When are Orbis and El Nath coming?

No date. They were in the August test but held back from launch; at Fest Nexon gave no date for Ossyria.

What is the best class?

There is no official tier list; see our job comparison for beginners, solo, party and bossing.

When is Forgotten Hollow coming?

In November: Nexon’s notes say November and the Fest roadmap gives 18 November, with levels 39–59 and Rotten Mushmom.

When are guilds coming?

9 December 2026, per the Fest roadmap, created in Lith Harbor.

What is Housing?

A home in Henesys or Kerning City bought with mesos from the Visitor Citizenship grade, shared by all characters on the account.

What is Citizenship?

From level 12, residency of Henesys or Kerning City with a local shop and discounts on cabs, storage and some store items.

What is Crafting?

Six professions from level 10 that turn materials into items.

What are Leaf Points?

An alternative Cash currency in Classic World, so far given through events.

Is NX shared?

Yes, NX is shared between MapleStory and Classic World.

Is there MVP in Classic World?

No, there is no MVP status.

Can I gift Cash items?

Yes, with NX.

Why can’t I use a Megaphone?

Megaphones need level 15 since the Grand Launch.

Does it support controllers?

Yes: DualSense, DualShock and Xbox controllers; turn on Controller Support in Game Options.

Can I use WASD?

Yes, choose the Modern Style key layout.
