Assassin guide
Claw and stars: safe ranged single-target damage and Haste. Thief 2nd job at level 30; weapon, key skills, the stat build and SP order players use, strengths and weaknesses.
- Safe ranged single-target damage with Critical Throw.
- Haste raises the party’s Speed and Jump.
- Drain recovers HP.
- No real mobbing skill until 3rd job.
- Throwing stars cost mesos; Haste is weaker than in 2008 (+30 Speed, +10 Jump).
Safe but slower on large groups; strong against single targets.

Levels 10–30: Rogue build
LUK main, DEX for claw reqs (15 at Lv15 ... 30 at Lv30; ~132 LUK at Lv30). SP: Lucky Seven 20 first, then Nimble Body 15, Keen Eyes 15, Disorder 3, Dark Sight 8 (dagger Bandit may take Double Stab/Dark Sight instead). Claw punching still exists
Levels 30–100: stats and SP order
+1 DEX/+4 LUK per level -> 70 DEX/292 LUK at Lv70 (claw reqs use total DEX incl. gear). SP: Haste 1 -> Claw Mastery 20 (Lv37) -> Critical Throw 30 (Lv47) -> Haste 20 -> Booster, Critical Recovery -> Drain
No real mobbing attack until 3rd job; stars cost mesos (Ilbis 16-24% more dmg than Subis per henesys.gg). Haste nerfed vs 2008 (+40/+20 -> +30/+10). Claw Booster Lv1 gives full speed. henesys.gg difficulty: Medium
Skill numbers and builds come from community databases built on the test and Founder’s Access clients; Nexon has not published Classic skill tables, so values can change with patches.

Level 1 to 30
Getting to 2nd job
- Finish the Maple Island quests (about level 8), then take the boat to Victoria Island.
- At level 10 talk to Dark Lord in Kerning City for 1st job (Rogue). Put AP into LUK.
- Train through the 20s; Kerning PQ opens at 21.
- At level 30 return to Dark Lord, pass the instructor test (30 Dark Marbles for The Proof of a Hero, per community guides) and choose Assassin. Keep a free Use slot.

When do you become a Assassin in MapleStory Classic?
At level 30. Take 1st job as Rogue from Dark Lord in Kerning City at level 10, then return to the same NPC at level 30 and choose Assassin as your 2nd job.
