Terms
- AOTC (Ahead of the Curve)
- Achievement for defeating a raid’s final boss on Heroic while that raid is current.
- Apex talents
- Midnight’s capstone talent cluster for every spec, 4 points from level 81.
- Battle.net account
- The Blizzard account that holds your World of Warcraft licence, game time and characters, and any other Blizzard games.
- Bountiful Delve
- A delve with a bonus chest opened with a Coffer Key; the better weekly delve loot.
- CE (Cutting Edge)
- Achievement for defeating a raid’s final boss on Mythic while that raid is current; it can never be earned again afterwards.
- Delve
- Short instanced adventure for one to five players, with tiers 1 to 11 and an NPC companion.
- Devourer
- The third Demon Hunter spec, added in Midnight: a mid-range Intellect caster built on Void magic.
- Elite
- The top PvP rank (2,300 rating in Season 2, per Warcraft Wiki); Gladiator, Legend and Strategist need wins at Elite.
- Gladiator
- PvP title and mount for 50 rated 3v3 wins at Elite in one season. Each season’s mount is gone when the season ends.
- Great Vault
- Weekly reward chest that offers one choice from the raid, Mythic+/delve and world activity you did that week.
- Haranir
- Allied race added in Midnight, neutral, unlocked through the Harandar storyline.
- Hero talents
- A third talent tree chosen from two per spec, introduced in The War Within and kept in Midnight.
- Ilvl (item level)
- The number that measures gear strength; the average item level is the quickest read of how geared a character is.
- Keystone / M+
- Mythic+ dungeons: a keystone sets the level, a timer and affixes; rating comes from your best runs.
- Labyrinth
- A larger, delve-like challenge added in 12.1.5; the first is the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan with nine chambers.
- Lair
- Instanced world boss added in 12.1, in Normal, Heroic and Mythic.
- Nemesis delve
- The season’s special delve with a recurring boss; in Season 2 it is Venomfall Deeps.
- Prey
- Opt-in hunt of a chosen target through activity in the Midnight zones, started at the Hunt Table in Silvermoon.
- R1 (Rank 1)
- Season title for the top 0.1% of a region’s PvP ladder.
- Raider.IO / IO / RIO
- Community site and score for Mythic+ progress; sellers write “3000 IO” for a 3,000 Mythic+ rating.
- Secret values
- Midnight’s addon rule: addons can show combat data but cannot compare or calculate with it.
- Talebound
- Action-RPG style mode announced for patch 12.1.7.
- Trader’s Tenders
- Trading Post currency for cosmetics; included with Midnight editions.
- Warband
- All characters on one World of Warcraft account; shares the bank, many reputations, transmog outfits and your house.
- WoW Token
- Item bought with real money and sold for gold, or bought with gold and redeemed for game time or Battle.net balance.

What do IO, CE and AOTC mean in WoW?
IO (or RIO) is a character’s Mythic+ score on Raider.IO, so “3000 IO” means a 3,000 rating. CE, Cutting Edge, is the achievement for killing a raid’s final boss on Mythic while it is current; AOTC, Ahead of the Curve, is the same on Heroic. Neither can be earned once the next raid opens.
