New player FAQ

What do you need to start playing WoW Midnight?

To play World of Warcraft: Midnight you need a Battle.net account, the Midnight expansion (the Base edition includes The War Within and a level-80 boost) and active game time. Pick a class, level from 80 to 90 through Quel’Thalas, then move on to delves, Mythic+ and raids.

Is World of Warcraft free to play?

No. Retail WoW needs the current expansion and active game time (a subscription, or game time bought with a WoW Token). The same subscription also covers WoW Classic.

Which Midnight edition should I buy?

The Base edition already includes The War Within and a level-80 boost. Heroic and Epic add cosmetics; Epic also added 30 days of game time and early access at launch.

What is the best class for a beginner?

A class that can tank or heal finds groups faster, and a self-healing spec is forgiving while you learn: Paladin, Death Knight, Demon Hunter and Hunter (Beast Mastery) are common first picks.

Should I level from 1 or use the boost?

A new player learns the class better by levelling, but Midnight content starts at 80; the included boost takes a character straight there.
