Your first week back

  1. Reach level 90 — fastest route.
  2. Run Bountiful delves and Mythic 0 dungeons for gear.
  3. Fill the Great Vault every week and use Ascendant Venomstones to upgrade.
  4. Pick a spec that is doing well this season — tier list.
  5. Join Mythic+ or The Venomous Abyss.

Returning player FAQ

What changed in WoW Midnight for returning players?

Midnight raised the level cap to 90, added player housing, the Haranir allied race, the ranged Devourer Demon Hunter spec and Apex talents, limited what combat addons can calculate, and reworked transmog into warband-wide outfits. Season 2 has been live since 18 August 2026, with patch 12.1.5 since 13 October.

What should I do first when I come back to WoW?

Boost or level a character to 90 through the Midnight campaign, then gear it with delves, Mythic 0 dungeons and the Great Vault before joining Mythic+ or raids.

Do my old mounts and achievements still count?

Yes. Mounts, achievements, transmog and many reputations are shared across your warband, and they stay on the account between expansions.

Do my old addons still work in Midnight?

Many interface addons work, but combat-tracking addons were limited by the new “secret values” rules and WeakAuras is not being updated for Midnight. Update everything and test before group content.

Is it too late to start Season 2?

No. Patch 12.1.5 added Ascendant Venomstones to upgrade gear faster, and catch-up gear from delves and Mythic 0 gets a character ready for the season’s content.
