Mobile Legends roam guide
The roamer has no lane and no farm. Instead, they move with the fights: the jungler’s first buff, the Gold lane, the Turtle, the mid lane, the next fight. A good roamer is the one who is always where the next fight starts.
Updated 30 October 2026 for Season 42, patch 2.2.16a (October 2026).
The job
What roaming means
The roam position is played by tanks and supports. Instead of farming minions, the roamer earns through a roaming blessing on their boots, which gives extra gold and EXP from assists early in the match and shares income with the lowest-earning ally. That frees the roamer to move all over the map.
- Vision. The roamer checks bushes and the river so the carries do not walk into ambushes.
- Protection. In lane and in fights, the roamer stands between the enemy and the team’s damage dealers.
- Initiation. Most roamers start fights with crowd control.
- Tempo. The roamer helps the jungler take the first buff, the Turtle and the Lord on time.
Route
The first eight minutes, step by step
| Time | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 0:00 to 0:30 | Your jungler’s starting buff | Guard it against an invade |
| First minute | Gold lane bush | Protect the marksman, threaten the enemy marksman |
| Before 2:00 | River, near the Turtle pit | Check bushes; the Turtle spawns at 2:00 |
| After the Turtle | Mid lane or Gold lane | Help the lane with the best kill chance |
| Around each buff respawn | Your jungler | Protect the jungler on the second buff |
| Before 8:00 | Around the Lord pit | Vision before the first Lord spawns |
Timings as of Season 42 (October 2026). The route changes with the game: if the enemy jungler appears on the opposite side, your carries on that side need you more than the next objective. See jungle routes and objective timers for the full schedule.
The roamer’s real currency
Vision and bushes
Mobile Legends has no wards to place. Vision comes from heroes, minions, turrets and a few map features, so the roamer is the team’s ward. Walk into bushes first, especially before an objective spawns or when the enemy jungler is missing. Several heroes have their own scouting tools, and in the 2026 annual map change some matches add Revealing Wisps, pick-ups that reveal hidden enemies near your hero for a few seconds.
- Check the bush your carry is about to walk past, before they reach it.
- Stand in the river bush between the Gold lane and the Turtle in the first minutes; that is where most early ganks come from.
- Face-check only with health. A tank at full HP can survive an ambush; a support with half HP cannot.
Boots
Roaming blessings, quick reference
| Blessing | Use on |
|---|---|
| Conceal (active) | Initiators who start fights from hiding: Atlas, Tigreal, Khufra |
| Encourage | Roamers who stay near the carry in fights |
| Favor | Healers and shielders: Estes, Rafaela, Floryn, Angela |
| Dire Hit | Roamers with damage of their own |
The full explanation is in the support guide. Whatever the blessing, do not take last hits from your carries; your income comes from assists.
Decision making
Stay or engage?
- Stay with the carry when the enemy has a strong assassin and your marksman is your win condition.
- Engage when your team has more heroes nearby, the enemy has used key skills and your damage is close.
- Disengage when the enemy has more heroes or your carries are not in position.
- Trade your life only for an objective or your carry’s life. A roamer dying so the marksman lives is a good trade; a roamer dying for nothing is not.
Hero pool, Season 42
Roamers by style
| Style | Heroes |
|---|---|
| Initiating tank | Tigreal, Atlas, Khufra, Johnson, Gatotkaca |
| Pick tank | Franco, Grock, Kaja |
| Healer | Estes, Rafaela, Floryn, Angela |
| Utility | Diggie, Mathilda, Chip, Carmilla, Marcel |
Patch 2.2.16 (September 2026) buffed Kaja and adjusted Marcel and Hylos; the 2.2.16a hotfix nerfed Rafaela and buffed Kalea. Learn one tank and one support so you can roam either way in draft.
Before the match
Emblem and spells
Tanks: Tank emblem with Concussive Blast or Focusing Mark; supports: Support emblem with Focusing Mark. Battle spells: Flicker for initiators, Vengeance for frontline tanks, Revitalize or Aegis for supports in long fights, Petrify for a second area stun. See emblems and battle spells.
Avoid these
Roamer mistakes
- Staying in the Gold lane all game while the jungler fights alone.
- Starting fights when the team’s damage is not close.
- Arriving late to the Turtle and Lord.
- Taking minions or jungle camps.
- Using Conceal to walk into an empty jungle instead of to start a fight.
- Dying alone while scouting with no information gained.
Getting better
Practice plan for roamers
- Learn the roam route above and follow it in five Classic matches without improvising.
- Watch the minimap after every engage to see who could have joined; adjust your next engage timing.
- Count your assists and your deaths: a good roamer has many assists and few pointless deaths.
- Learn one tank and one support well enough to play either in ranked.
Roaming is also the best way to learn macro. Because you are not tied to a lane, you see every part of the map and every fight. Many players who become strong junglers or mid laners started as roamers. The macro guide takes that further.
After minute 12
Roaming in the late game
Late in the match the roamer’s job narrows to two things: vision before objectives and protection of the main carry in fights. Death timers are long, so the roamer is the right hero to walk first into the dark around the Lord pit, but only with the team close behind. When the enemy has a strong assassin, stay within a few steps of your marksman and keep your crowd control for the moment the assassin appears.
- Walk ahead of the team, never alone across the map.
- Stand at the Lord pit entrance while your team hits the Lord.
- Buy defensive items that match the enemy damage, plus anti-heal if nobody else has it.
- After a won fight, lead the push to the nearest turret so the carries can follow safely.
Answers
Mobile Legends roam guide: FAQ
What does a roamer do in Mobile Legends?
Provides vision, protects the carries, starts fights and helps the jungler take buffs and objectives. The roamer does not farm minions.
Should the roamer stay with the marksman?
In the first minutes, yes, and later whenever the marksman is the team’s win condition and the enemy has a strong assassin. Otherwise follow the next fight.
Which roaming blessing should I take?
Conceal for initiators, Favor for healers, Encourage for supports who stay near the carry, Dire Hit for roamers with damage.
Can I roam with a fighter?
Rarely. A roamer needs crowd control or utility. A few tank-fighters work, but the team usually wants a tank or support.
