WoW Forever Beta Build October 8: Dalaran, Dungeon XP, Legacy Points

NewsOctober 15, 2026·METAMMO Team

Blizzard pushed a new WoW: Forever beta build on October 8, 2026, the start of beta Week 4. It opens the City of Dalaran dungeon, raises experience from dungeon kills by about 20%, fixes a party XP bug that starved lower-level players, and grants every tester 16 Legacy Points.

What changed in the October 8 beta build

Servers went down at 9:00 a.m. PDT for about six hours, earlier than usual, because Blizzard was also shipping behind-the-scenes fixes. Updated Development Notes followed the same day.

Dungeon experience: the main story

Dungeon XP has dominated beta feedback since the October 1 build halved extra XP from dungeon quests. On WoW: Forever Podcast episode 3, Josh Greenfield announced the 20% kill XP increase.

Aggrend added on the forums that earlier builds gave XP based on the highest-level party member. A level 20 grouped with a level 25 earned very little per kill. Now each player is measured against the mobs on their own. If someone is far above the enemy level, nobody in the party gets XP, as before.

Blizzard says perfect dungeon play should now roughly match optimal questing speed, but cleaving dungeons to 60 as the best route does not fit its design pillars. Our leveling hub covers what this means for your route.

City of Dalaran and Legacy Points

For City of Dalaran, see the City of Dalaran dungeon guide and the full Forever dungeon list.

The 16 Legacy Points match the per-character cap at launch, so testers can now try full builds across the Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness trees. Our Legacy system page explains the trees.

Smaller item and economy changes

Enchanting wands had been cut to one low vendor price earlier in the beta. The new per-wand prices partly restore the vendor flip that helps fund leveling the profession.

Truthseeker's Bow, a reward for 25 library books, could be equipped at level 30; it now requires 40 like the other two rewards. Several Excavation Site quest rewards also lost rarity and stats, Wowhead reports.

If the slower dungeon pace changes your launch plans, our leveling time and price overview shows the options. WoW: Forever launches on November 4, 2026, and all of these values may still change before then.
